The Position

Novo Nordisk is seeking a highly motivated analytical scientist to join its Drug Product Research department in Lexington Massachusetts. The candidate will be responsible for the formulation and characterization of peptides proteins small molecules and bioconjugates. This position will support therapeutic programs in multiple disease areas and will contribute to the development of novel drug delivery platforms.

Relationships

This position reports to the Head of Advanced Drug Delivery (Drug Product Research). Internal relationships include project teams and research colleagues both in Seattle Indianapolis and around the globe. Communicates data externally when required. Individual Contributor: does not manage other employees or contingent workers.

Essential Functions

  • Utilize subject matter knowledge in analytical chemistry to develop and verify analytical methods to quantify and characterize peptides proteins small molecules and bioconjugate drug substances and injectable formulations
  • Evaluate and implement new analytical technologies and methods to advance current analytical capabilities for drug product testing with a focus on stateoftheart separation sciences capabilities and mass spectroscopy
  • Generate key analytical data packages by applying HPLC UPLC LCMS GCMS SECMALs MS and other instrumental analysis techniques
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure the selected dosage form meets the desired chemical attributes of the lead candidate and contribute to the early screening strategies and
  • Operate maintain and troubleshoot analytical lab instruments including HPLCs UPLCs and MSs
  • Conduct laboratory work in safe efficient manner that ensures a safe working environment for colleagues

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree required. Degree within subject matter expertise (biological biochemical or pharmacological sciences) preferred
  • 4 years relevant technical experience required or Masters degree within subject matter expertise can be considered
  • Strong knowledge and expertise in analytical chemistry including method development for biologics and advanced drug delivery technologies
  • Demonstrated experience in evaluating and implementing new analytical technologies in drug delivery
  • Proficient in data analysis and interpretation for drawing conclusions and making recommendations
  • Experience in project management and working collaboratively with crossfunctional teams
  • Excellent scientific communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders effectively
  • Have strong attention to detail and ability to document experimental work with electronic laboratory notebooks (ELN)
  • General knowledge of cGMP GLP and regulatory requirements for pharmaceutical industries a plus
