Job Description Summary
The Department of English at Oakland University invites applications for a tenuretrack position of Assistant Professor in Cinema Studies with expertise in studies of culture and identity as related to film/screen media. Primary specialization may include one or more of the following areas: race and ethnicity gender and sexuality disability and indigenous studies. Secondary specialization is open. The appointment will begin August 15 2019. Cinema Studies at OU is an energetic and growing program offering a critical studiesfocused B.A. in Cinema Studies with a filmmaking specialization. The program integrates theoretical and productionbased approaches to film and media and is committed to community engagement and experiential learning as well as the ongoing development of a diverse faculty and student body. Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion. The successful candidate should possess an active research agenda and the ability to teach multiple required courses within the Cinema Studies undergraduate curriculum as well as elective courses within their area(s) of expertise and an interest in contributing to a growing and highly active interdisciplinary Cinema Studies. Teaching load is 3/2.
