RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC
The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RIMUHC) is a worldrenowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal Quebec the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RIMUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Qubec Sant (FRQS).
Position summary
Department / Research Program: Departments of Medicine and Neurology & Neurosurgery / Metabolic Disorders and Complications (MeDiC) Program
The Brain Metabolism lab is looking for candidates with a bachelor degree in Psychology Biomedical Science and/or Neuroscience to fill a Junior Assistant position. The incumbent will report to Prof. Dana Small Professor in the Department of Medicine and Neurology & Neurosurgery and Chairholder of the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Metabolism and the Brain.
The incumbent will participate in subject recruitment stimulus preparation and screening/evaluation sessions. In addition the person will be responsible for equipment maintenance inventory and purchase of laboratory supplies. In this position the candidate will also provide administrative support to Prof. Small such as meeting organization schedule and CV update.
General Duties
Recruit and screens potential study participants and perform the intake assessments and experimental sessions
Manage the inventory of equipment and supplies related to the specific study and place orders when necessary
Monitor software in lab and licenses
Collect data and information from participants and collect them into electronic systems
Create stimuli such as test meals and flavor stimuli for sensory testing which requires basic wetlab skills that can be learned onthejob but prior knowledge is considered an asset
Provide administrative support and perform administrative tasks as requested.
Excellent verbal communication skills in English and in French (an intermediate level of written French is acceptable)
Superior organizational and time management skills
Capable of working independently with minimal supervision and also as part of a team
Demonstrates good listening good interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrates attention to details
Takes initiative and is resourceful
Ability to multitask.
Status: Temporary full time 35hour workweek)
Pay Scale: Commensurate with education and experience. $34980.40 $52452.40.
Work Shift: Variable Schedule
Flexible with at least 30 lab hours per week between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
