Job Description:
L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Sr. Manger of Quality & Mission Assurance (Q&MA) to serve as the quality leader for multiple Quality Assurance teams at the Aerojet Rocketdyne Segments Space Propulsion & Power Systems Sector in Canoga Park CA. This site is our center of excellence for liquid inspace propulsion responsible for engine design fabrication assembly and test.
This position is responsible for leading the QM&A Product Acceptance team of approximately five direct reports comprised of about 80 employees. The Q&MA Product Acceptance team ensures delivered products conform to contractual and L3Harris requirements for product quality throughout the production lifecycle. They ensure adherence to and compliance with established quality policies practices and government regulations. This includes implementation and leadership of strategies that will directly impact the successful zerodefect ontime delivery of products.
Essential Functions:
- Provide leadership direction and support across multiple Quality Assurance teams (NonDestructive Testing Precision Measurement In Process Inspection Metrology Assembly Inspection and Receiving Inspection)
- Guide teams to resolve technical challenges ensuring successful tactical
- Promote a strong culture of quality focused on the engagement of every employee with adherence to personal stamp warranty workmanship fundamentals and attention to detail in the prevention of defects
- Collaborate with Factory leadership and program management and other functional process teams. Collaborate with Q&MA functional peers at other Aerojet Rocketdyne sites
- Develop and implement team & sitewide tactical quality improvement initiatives promoting sound and effective principles as set forth in company procedures customer requirements and government standards.
- Champion lead and support the of flowdown strategic initiatives
- Measure monitor and take action to ensure qualityfocused key performance indicator targets are achieved or exceeded
- Report to senior leadership on business performance including action plans to improve business and status of strategic initiatives.
- Partner with Operations Leadership in maintaining certification and compliance efforts for AS9100 and other required certifications.
- Along with manufacturing operations cochair the Site Process Corrective Action Board to oversee rigorous root cause analysis application of lean/six sigma methods and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
- Continuously investigate and integrate improved inspection technology in support of engineering design and manufacturing processes
- Execute annual departmental budget and staffing plans
- Identify needed capital investment to support business need (including quality process capacity capabilities & technologies)
- Requires up to 5 business travel within the continental U.S.
- Ability to obtain a US Secret Security Clearance.
- Represent Quality Leadership as needed in committees or boards that support Company and Union relationships Safety Initiatives Quality oversight etc.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 12 years of prior related quality experience orGraduate Degree with a minimum of 10 years of prior related quality experience. In lieu of a degree minimum of 16 years of prior related quality experience.
Preferred Additional Skills:
- 5 or more years of experience directly managing a Quality Inspection or Quality Organization in an Aerospace or Defense manufacturing environment.
- 5 or more years managing site certification with AS9100 ISO 9001.
- Direct experience with fabrication assembly test and inspection processes commonly used to produce aerospace components and subassemblies
- American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence.
- Experience working with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and government contracts.
- Experience identifying nonconformance and applying prevention utilizing industryrecognized Root Cause Corrective Analysis tools such DMAIC FMEA 8D Cause Networks and applying Lean techniques such as Manufacturing Standard Work and Value Stream Mapping
- Demonstrated management and leadership capability to lead business area or functional teams in achieving company and process cost and deliverable goals.
- Broad experience across multiple related professional disciplines within the organization combining theory past practical experience and the organizations business practices.
In compliance with pay transparency requirements the salary range for this role in California is $137000 $254000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location.
