Job Description

Summary
A machinists job involvesoperating machine tools like lathes mills and grinders to create precise metal parts following blueprints and ensuring parts meet specifications through inspection and quality control. Machinists may work with various metals plastics and other materials depending on the specific requirements of the job. Often collaborate with engineers other machinists and technicians to ensure projects are completed efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Report for work promptly everyday as scheduled.
- Respond to overtime and callout requirements as plant needs dictate.
- Perform Machinist jobs as assigned.
- Perform Millwright jobs as assigned.
- Work professionally with people within and outside of the department.
- Completion of Primary Machinist skills checklist.
- Completion of Secondary Millwright skills checklist.
Typical Education
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Relevant Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of Job Shop type Machinist experience
- Ability to operate Manual Machine tools
- Ability to read and understand Blueprints
- Proven record of safe work performance
- Proven record of dependability and attendance
Other Information
- Starting pay grade will be determined by level of experience. The position is dayshift that periodically requires schedule adjustments as plant needs dictate.
- Physical Requirements: Lift and move heavy equipment; Climb ladders and work in high precarious places.
- Working Environment: May be exposed to wet or humid conditions; May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions; May be exposed to high noise environments; May be exposed to chemicals used in the process; Could be in temperatures of 5 degrees.
