R&D Engineer III Mechanical Interventional Cardiology

Maple Grove MN (Onsite)

About the role:

As R&D Mechanical Engineer III working in our Imaging business within the Interventional Cardiology division. Projects will include partnering with operations to develop new processes test equipment design updates or specification changes to enable increasing manufacturing volume. This role will utilize a variety of new and proven technologies to deliver lifechanging medical devices to patients and clinicians in support of BSCs mission.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Translating customer needs into product requirements and design specifications.
  • Participating in design & of structured experimental plans to drive databased decisions.
  • Designing developing debugging modifying and testing mechanical assemblies and systems by using current tools analysis techniques and technologies.

Documenting mechanical development by writing documents reports memos change requests. Methods used are determined by approved procedures and standards.

Tracking mechanical development effort by creating and maintaining records in the approved tracking management tool.

Solving engineering problems by analyzing the situation and recommending corrective or alternative actions.

Analyzing evaluating and verifying requirements component performance and systems by using engineering practices.

Investigating researching and selecting mechanical components tools equipment and best practices.

Enabling technology integration & knowledge transfer within domain of responsibility.

Providing clear communication to stakeholders at key technical updates.

Leveraging internal/external partners as necessary to achieve project objectives.

Understanding clinical use cases and user interface requirements to drive design decisions.

Developing novel improvements to products or processes resulting in expansion of BSCs Intellectual Property portfolio in key strategic areas.

Successfully completing engineering work in one or more of the following: technology development product design and development test method development specification development bench & preclinical studies.

Working cooperatively with process development quality manufacturing regulatory clinical and marketing on complex projects to ensure project success.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or above in Mechanical Biomedical or Chemical Engineering or similar field.
  • 3 years of mechanical engineering experience (Masters Degree may substitute for 1 year).
  • Solid lab experience with debugging fixture development and test equipment.
  • Expertise in design simulation tools experimental design and analysis techniques.
  • Ability to provide technical knowledge as it relates to product design.
  • Ability to draw conclusions and make recommendations based on technical inputs from multiple and varied sources.
  • Excellent organizational communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience interacting with physicians and customers on product design
  • Willingness to work onsite at our Maple Grove MN site

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the medical device industry
  • Experience in the PTCA or Intravascular Ultrasound business.
  • Catheter design and process experience.
  • Design and process control implementation

Base Salary Range

Minimum Salary:$76000

Maximum Salary: $144400

The anticipated compensation listed above and the value of core and optional employee benefits offered by Boston Scientific (BSC) see vary based on actual location of the position and other pertinent factors considered in determining actual compensation for the role. Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training pertinent education including licensure and certifications among other relevant business or organizational needs. At BSC it is not typical for an individual to be hired near the bottom or top of the anticipated salary range listed above.

Compensation for exempt rolesmay also include variable compensation i.e. annual bonus target and longterm incentives (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
