Job Description
Long Lake 58 First Nation
is currently looking to fill the following position
for theschool year
Migizi Wazisin Elementary School (MWES) Principal
We are a First Nation located on Highway 11 near Longlac Ontario. Our student population at MWES is approximately 120 from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 and 65 students from Grades 9 to 12 at Migizi Miigwan Secondary School. Our history Cultural Programming Outdoor Education Literacy Numeracy Social Development and Technology are key focus areas of the curriculum. Circle of Security training and understanding and/or training in Attachment Theory would be considered assets. Our secondary school is inspected by the Ministry of Education annually. We offer a benefits and pension package.
The Principal will promote the philosophy declaration vision statement and the purpose and standards adopted and approved by the Long Lake #58 First Nation Education Authority.
Application Requir e ments :
- A postsecondary degree in the field of education (Bachelor Education) and a Principal certification along with 35 years of experience in a management position.
- Current Ontario Teachers Certificate in good standing
- Working knowledge of Ministry Curriculum and Assessment Documents
- Experience working within a First Nation educational setting
- A sound understanding of Anishnaabe culture and First Nation education issues
- Working knowledge of government policies programs and curriculums
- Demonstrated human resource skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to work in a unique cultural environment
- Must possess a valid Ontarios drivers licence and be insurable
- Excellent interpersonal skills; be a positive role model
- Emergency CPR and First Aid Certification
- Must provide a clean Vulnerable Sector Police Check
