Position Overview:

Competently performs diagnostic cardiac sonography procedures to assess cardiac structures and hemodynamics in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies values and mission of the organization. Responsible for all commonly performed echocardiography procedures in the department with a high level of competence.

In addition to those performed by the Level I performs:
Transesophageal echocardiograms with or without three dimensional imaging
Intra operative transesophageal echocardiograms
Structural Heart Procedures in the cardiac Cath lab
complex congenital pediatric echocardiograms

May also be responsible for performing specific procedures and/or orient other staff to the department

SIGN ON BONUS: $10000. Available to external candidates in accordance with the Sutter Health policy

Job Description:

EDUCATION:

Other: Graduate from an accredited Cardiac Sonography Program.

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:



Level I or II:

RCS (CCI)Registered Cardiac Sonographer.

OR ARDMS (RDCS AE for adult or RDCS PE for pediatric).

BLSBasic Life Support Healthcare Provider.

Level III:



BLSBasic Life Support Healthcare Provider

2 of the following:


RCS (CCI)Registered Cardiac Sonographer

ACS (CCI) Advanced Cardiac Sonographer

ARDMS RDCS(AE) Adult

ARDMS RDCS(PE) Pediatric

ARDMS RDCS(FE) Fetal

ARDMS RVT Registered Vascular Technologist (allowed for those who entered this job prior to 06/17/2024

OR Performs one of the following:

  • Acquisition and post processing high complexity 3D/4D imaging and strain imaging

  • Imaging pre and post structural heart transthoracic echocardiograms

  • Left ventricular Assist Device and ECMO Imaging

  • Cardiac transplant patients

  • Adult congenital patients

  • Involvement in cardiac research projects that incorporate echocardiography

  • Vascular modalities in addition to cardiac imaging

  • Cardiac MRI acquisition and analysis

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

Level II:

2 years recent relevant experience.

Level III:

5 years recent relevant experience.


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Level I:


General knowledge of diagnostic cardiac sonography principles procedures and views as well as the operation and maintenance of imaging equipment.

Capable of performing routine cardiac sonographic examinations as well as a basic understanding of human anatomy physiology pathology and medical terminology.

Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences including nonmedical people.

Good time management and organizational skills including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline

Basic knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS) laboratory (LIS) electronic health records (EHR) EPIC and picture archive and communication system (PACS).

Work under close supervision or within clearly defined procedures to complete assignments within established timeframes.

Use existing procedures to identify and solve routine or standard problems.

Ensure the privacy of each patients PHI.

Builds and collaborates relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.

Level II:

Intermediate knowledge of diagnostic cardiac sonography principles procedures and views as well as the operation and maintenance of imaging equipment including some experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies.

Proficient in performing cardiac sonographic examinations with a solid understanding of human anatomy physiology pathology and medical terminology so as to recognize prioritize and communicate suspicious or abnormal results.

Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences including nonmedical people.

Welldeveloped time management and organizational skills including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline

Working knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS) laboratory (LIS) electronic health records (EHR) EPIC and picture archive and communication system (PACS).

Prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.

Work independently as well as be part of the team including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.

Level III:

dvanced knowledge of diagnostic cardiac sonography principles procedures views and equipment including substantial experience responding to traumas code blues medical alerts STAT calls and various hospital emergencies.

Skilled in performing cardiac sonographic examinations with an extensive understanding of human anatomy physiology pathology and medical terminology so as to recognize prioritize and communicate suspicious or abnormal results.

Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences including nonmedical people.

Exceptional time management and organizational skills including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline

Robust knowledge of computer applications such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS) laboratory (LIS) electronic health records (EHR) EPIC and picture archive and communication system (PACS).

Prioritize activities and work within defined policies procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines; help determine appropriate approach for new assignments

Work independently as well as be part of the team including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.

Use experience and existing precedents or procedures to resolve atypical or infrequent problems; provide informal guidance and support to junior team members.

Pay Range is $67.20 to $83.98 / hour. Cardiac Sonographer II Pay Range is $70.55 to $88.18 / hour. Cardiac Sonographer III Pay Range is $77.78 to $97.21 / hour.

The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidates experience education skills licensure and certifications department equity training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
