ABOUT INUVIALUIT REGIONAL CORPORATION (IRC)

IRC was created in 1984 to represent the Inuvialuit and their rights and benefits obtained under one of Canadas oldest comprehensive land claim agreements. With assets over $1 billion not including vast land holdings IRC is responsible for corporate investment land management and a broad range of social cultural and economic programs and services benefiting Inuvialuit. Its subsidiaries have interests in grocery manufacturing property management transportation and significant dealings in the oil and gas industry.

Since its inception IRC has experienced considerable growth and its structure and operations have become increasingly complex. Combining local government and service delivery community development investment and operating business divisions all managed by a single back office the organization has an array of complexities for the executive staff to navigate. JOB SUMMARY


The Administrative Assistant reporting to the Director provides administrative support to the Education Training and Capacity Department. This includes maintaining an organized filing system managing office supplies and coordinating photos for career and training programs. The role also involves assisting with program delivery workshops and fairs as well as developing communications and advertising to support departmental projects.


Additionally the Assistant manages the departments database ensuring accurate data entry and conducting quarterly uploads to ESDC. The position also involves maintaining client records participating in stakeholder meetings and delivering presentations to community groups as needed. As the database expert the Administrative Assistant communicates with the vendor to resolve issues and implement updates.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a Beneficiary of the Inuvialuit Final Agreement (IFA).
  • Grade 12 or some postsecondary education preferably in a related field or;
  • Two years of related work experience in administration.
  • Experience working with database programs considered an asset.
  • Experience is a must in Microsoft Office Programs especially Excel.
  • Training and mentoring will be provided.
