Hire Resolves client a respected and wellestablished engineering and transport services provider is currently seeking a Qualified Diesel Mechanic to join their team in Dunoon. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and experienced mechanic who thrives in a dynamic highperformance environment and has a passion for working on buses especially Volvo and Scania models.
Vehicle Maintenance
Perform routine maintenance including oil changes filter replacements and general servicing of 12m and 18m buses.
Conduct detailed inspections to detect mechanical issues ensuring vehicles are safe and operational.
Ensure preventative maintenance tasks are performed timely to avoid breakdowns.
Maintain cleanliness and professional presentation of assigned vehicles.
Diagnostic Skills
Diagnose issues using specialized tools and interpret diagnostic codes for repairs.
Troubleshoot mechanical electrical and hydraulic problems with precision.
Address customer concerns effectively and ensure repair quality meets company standards.
Workshop Duties
Carry out complete bus inspections from bumper to bumper.
Complete detailed job card documentation for each service.
Handle both minor and major service tasks as assigned.
Efficiency and Productivity
Manage workloads to ensure minimal downtime and high service efficiency.
Organize tasks and resources to meet deadlines and service standards.
Deliver timely results within allocated service times.
Quality Health & Safety
Adhere to all Health Safety and Environmental regulations.
Ensure work is completed to meet or exceed company quality benchmarks.
Participate in daily toolbox meetings and maintain high housekeeping standards.
Team Collaboration
Work closely with fellow technicians supervisors and service advisors to coordinate tasks.
Offer assistance and support across the team to achieve service and workshop targets.
Adhoc Tasks
Undertake special requests or onetime projects.
Provide cover for colleagues or supervisors as needed.
Education: Grade 12 / NQF Level 4
Qualification: National Certificate in Automotive Mechanics (NQF Level 4 or higher) or relevant Trade Certificate
Apprenticeship: Completion of a formal apprenticeship program in automotive mechanics
Experience: 3 to 5 years in a mechanical role with a strong focus on buses especially Volvo and Scania
Technical Skills: Expertise in diesel engines diagnostics transmissions brakes and electrical systems
Leadership: Advantageous if experienced in supervising or mentoring workshop staff
License: PDP (Professional Driving Permit) is beneficial
