Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) is Wisconsins largest and most diverse technical college offering 170 highquality programs that connect students to a career in as little as one to two years. *This position requires applicants to be Bilingual in Spanish/English. Please only apply if you are Bilingual (able to read write and speak) in both languages.

Under the supervision of the Associate Deanof theCommunity Education Division or designee toteach basic communication courses levels 16 to teach GED classes in an accelerated GED program.

Desire outcome of this class: Students are seeking a HSED High School Equivalency Diploma) or GED A certificate of General Education Development).
Grade Level Ranges: students are middle to secondary academic levels

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications

Minimum Educational Requirements: Must possess at least ONE of the following:
  • Bachelors degree (required) or higher in English/Communication OR;
  • Bachelors degree or higher in any field with a minimum of 18 coursework credits (undergraduate or graduate level) in English/Communications. Of the 18 credits at least 12 credits MUST be in English Language Arts Communications Journalism Speech Adult Literacy Special Education or Reading.
Minimum Occupational Experience Requirements:
  • At least one 1 year or two 2 fulltime semesters of teaching experience within any combination of elementary secondary or postsecondary education.

Essential Supportive Technology:
Experience with or willingness to learn the following supportive technologies:
  • Online Information Management Systems Experience with SelfService or other online information management systems used for student advising student programs grading class schedules and rosters
  • Blackboard Ultra Experience with Blackboard or other webbased course management systems
  • Technologybased Instruction Experience with technologybased instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium interactive touch screen monitors LCD projectors DVD players and/or other classroom technology
  • Emerging Technologies Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)

Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the Community Education Division and is available to start in the fall semester which begins midAugust.

Hours: This is a parttime pool position and the number of hours shift and locations available will vary based on enrollment department need and course load.
Modality will be IN PERSON

Salary: Beginning in the fall of 2024 the starting hourly wage for all parttime faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Parttime faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is nonnegotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.
