Department Overview



Position Summary

The Safety Manager is responsible for championing all aspects of Employee Safety and Health for Childrens. The position will provide leadership and ongoing management of an effective systemwide safety program designed to provide a physical environment free of recognized hazards and to reduce the risk of human injury. This position is responsible for working with all levels of the organization to ensure federal state and local regulatory compliance and to promote education and learning. The Safety Manager will investigate and supervise the resolution of all safety related incidents including those that involve employees visitors patients and situations posing a threat to the organizations buildings and/or equipment. The Safety Manger will work collaboratively with the Safety Specialist team members and will lead various subcommittees.

Bachelor or Associate degree in Environmental Health and Safety Industrial Hygiene and/or Safety Management or related field. Masters degree preferred.
* 3 years hospital safety management experience or 5 years experience in general safety and health field.
* Strong knowledge of Joint Commission Environment of Care OSHA MPCA EPA DOT and other federal state and county regulations.
* Intermediate computer skills including working with databases.
* Excellent verbal written and interpersonal communication skills necessary.
* Demonstrates tact diplomacy and the ability to interact with people from diverse demographic backgrounds.
* Possess expert knowledge and experience to assume technical professional administrative organizational and educational responsibilities for managing a program which ensures the safety of patients visitors and employees.
* Able to handle confidential and highly sensitive issues concerning Childrens activities.
* Must be able to travel locally.
* Must be able to work flexible hours when needed.

The posted salary represents a market competitive range based on salary survey benchmark data for similar roles in the local or national market. When determining individual pay rates we carefully consider a wide range of factors including but not limited to market indicators for the specific role the skills education training credentials and experience of the candidate internal equity and organizational needs.

In addition to your salary this position may be eligible for medical dental vision retirement and other fringe benefits. Positions that require night weekend or oncall work may be eligible for shift differentials or premium pay.
