We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join the Immunology Discovery group of the Cardiovascular Metabolism and Immunology Department. The successful candidate will investigate the molecular pathways that drive the regeneration and function of human alveolar cells in homeostasis and under inflammatory disease conditions. Research will focus on targeting Wnt and other signaling pathways using novel pharmacologic modulators to uncover novel synergistic interactions. The overarching goal is to gain a deeper understanding of the fundamental processes of lung regeneration in the context of disease and to devise novel therapeutic strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Highthroughput culture of human alveolar and airway organoids
Investigating the impact of diseaserelevant perturbations to identify conditions that recapitulate the disease molecular state
Phenotypic and molecular characterization using techniques such as immunofluorescence flow cytometry and singlecell RNAsequencing (scRNAseq)
Using pharmacological modulators to understand pathways involved in alveolar cell regeneration and differentiation
Investigating how modulating the identified signaling pathways can impact the function of alveolar progenitor cells under disease conditions
Qualifications
PhD in Molecular Biology Cell Biology Developmental Biology Pharmacology or a related field
To be eligible for a Roche Postdoctoral Fellowship you must be within the first four years of completing your PhD in a relevant field at the start of the project
Strong background in cell signaling particularly Wnt pathways and experience with organoid culture systems
