The Fiscal Operations Department of the Alaska Court System is accepting applications for a Senior Accounting Clerk (salary range 12. Under the general supervision of the Court Accounting Analyst this position will perform a variety of accounting and technical functions.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Process and account for all postjudgment restitution collection transactions and garnishment efforts; interface and provide customer service to defendants and victims to ensure timely payment of restitution judgments; research party contact information and maintain system updates; process reminder and notification mailings;
  • Examine verify summarize maintain and reconcile receipts deposits checks merchant statements for funds that are processed through the case management system for 38 court locations and administration; review and process accounting documents for accuracy and efficiency as related to court funds;
  • Account for monies collected by courts that are deposited into the courts trust account and the states general fund; process treasury receipts; accumulate revenue transaction information and enter into the states accounting system; review documents related to monies collected by courts that are deposited on behalf of other government entities; process disbursement of funds related to state and city revenues and prepare journal entries;
  • Assist bookkeepers with researching complex accounting discrepancies and advise on appropriate remedies; manage Help Desk calls related to accounting requests and functions;
  • Coordinate the timely submission of the annual Unclaimed Property Report by reviewing the collected data submitted by each court; provide rural court trainers assistance with training bookkeepers; assist with establishing policies practices and procedures related to case management systems.

The Work Hours
Fulltime court employees are currently scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week. The work hours for this position are Monday Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a onehour lunch break.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
