Duties and Responsibilities
**Denotes Essential Functions)

  • **Provides project support to the Director of Workforce Innovation in implementing workforce training programs and managing the multimillion dollar Community Colleges (CC) Perkins plan.
  • **Provides programmatic and logistical support for workforce related projects.
  • **Coordinates University of Hawaii (UH) and communitybased workforce development meetings and events.
  • **Assists with the development of the States multiyear Perkins plan for review and approval by the State Career and Technical Education Advisory Council.
  • **Assists with the development and preparation of the CCs Title I annual plans applications for funds and budgets for review and approval by the CC Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs the Director of Workforce Innovation and the Career and Technical Education (CTE) Deans group.
  • **Submits plans to the State Director for CTE and assists in the presentation and response to questions regarding the plan at the States CTE Advisory Council meeting.
  • **Assists with the development of the Requests for Proposals Guidelines and Forms for Title I Program Improvement and Leadership funds based on the Perkins Act and federal and state guidelines for review and approval by the CTE Deans group.
  • **Researches and interprets State Federal UH and contractual policies rules and regulations affecting the administration of the Perkins funds.
  • **Reviews colleges annual Perkins plans strategies proposals and completion reports for appropriateness and compliance with Perkins Federal State UH and CC policies and guidelines.
  • **Prepares award letters and other correspondence to college officials; assures accuracy and clarity in the budget and funding information provided to the colleges.
  • **Provides assistance for special programs projects and/or initiatives relating to career and technical education or general academic issues.
  • Attends and participates in monthly teleconferences and annual discussions on Perkins legislation career and technical education in the United States career pathways federal reporting requirements nontraditional student initiatives workforce development issues etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

Education and Professional Work Experience

  • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Business Education Arts & Sciences or related field and 0 year(s) of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for grant or project support; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education knowledge skills and abilities as indicated.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Functional knowledge of principles practices and techniques in the area of grant or project support demonstrated by knowledge understanding and ability to apply concepts terminology.
  • Functional knowledge and understand of principles theories federal and state laws rules regulations and systems associated with grant or project support.
  • Demonstrated ability to recognize problems identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of grant or project support.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation write reports and procedures and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations groups team members and individuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer apply word processing and spreadsheet software.
Desirable Qualifications

  • Knowledge of administrative (human resources fiscal etc. rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of Community College philosophy and organization.
  • Masters Degree in related field.
