Job Description

GP Special Interest in Addictions and Opioid Dependency

Part Time / FullTime Role now available

$250k $300k annual salary (negotiable)

Winnunga Nimmityjah Aboriginal Health & Community Services is Canberras only Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service. Located in the heart of Canberra we provide trusted holistic healthcare to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities of the ACT and surrounding areas.

We have a great multidisciplinary clinical team including 6 GPs visiting specialists nurses allied health specialists and admin support. We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate General Practitioner (GP) with strong experience in addiction medicine particularly in the management of opioid dependency to join our multidisciplinary team. This is a great opportunity to directly contribute to closing the gap on health outcomes for First Nations people.

Features of the clinical work:

Provide highquality culturally safe medical care to clients with a focus on alcohol and other drug (AOD) issues

Initiate and manage opioid substitution therapy (OST) including prescribing and ongoing monitoring.

Work collaboratively with social health mental health and AOD teams

Participate in care planning case conferencing and continuous quality improvement activities

Working hours are weekdays 9 am 5 pm (no after hours).

You must have the following:

Full work rights in Australia

Fellowship with RACGP or ACRRM

Specialist registration with AHPRA

Extensive experience in addiction medicine and opioid dependency treatment

Prescribing rights for opioid substitution therapy

Strong understanding of harm reduction principles

Commitment to culturally respectful practice

Strong interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health
