Business Overview

The Architecture team is responsible for delivering technology solutions that support our divisional strategy. In addition the team leads the development of Fidelity Investments Canadas technology vision and strategy. This involves conducting research into a variety of technologies and business focus areas that includes data warehouse data integration master data big data cloud services data governance and quality security and operational efficiency.

What You Will Do

The Senior Technical Architect role assists with establishing and evolving the data standards models and technical solutions. This will include active participation in key business and IS initiatives to ensure that solutions are architected and aligned with the Canada data strategy and technology directions.

  • Assigned projects align with Enterprise direction and Technology roadmaps.
  • Effective collaboration with development teams during the development cycle.
  • Identify knowledge gaps and conduct/coordinate/recommend training sessions on new technologies.
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with development teams and the business.
  • Ensure all architecture documents are complete in accordance with established methodologies.
  • Identify and promote technologies that improve business processes or contribute to new business opportunities.
  • Lead in the development and implementation of core infrastructure components for IS systems.
  • Follow defined processes for software development integration and deployment.
  • Actively participates in peer reviews and ensures all developed code follows the peer review process.
  • Active participation in strategic planning to ensure FICL IT is well positioned to deliver solutions that meet current and future business needs.

What Were Looking For

  • Completed University Degree or equivalent working experience
  • Minimum of 57 years as an architect (data cloud solutions)
  • Proficient in cloud technologies (AWS Azure or Google Cloud) data architectures and best practices in data governance and security.
  • Experience with Middleware and Databases Snowflake Oracle and MariaDB.
  • Salesforce experience is an asset
  • Experience working within the financial industry is an asset

  • Strong systems analysis techniques and problem solving skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of application systems architecture current and emerging
  • Comprehensive knowledge of programming languages object oriented development and operating systems.
  • Excellent understanding of Internet security and associated technologies.
  • Excellent understanding of mutual fund business processes data flows and systems.
  • Strong leadership and teamwork skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent presentation skills.
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills
  • General understanding of the financial services sector.
