This senior level recognized resource position will function as Michigans sole Chemical Threat Response Training Coordinator for the Centers for Disease Control and Preventions (CDC) Public Health Emergency Preparedness cooperative agreement. This position will be responsible for coordinating statewide implementation of project activities coordination with other public health hospital and commercial diagnostic laboratories development of protocols for specimen collection handling and shipment inservice training conducting meetings and evaluating laboratory preparedness activities program for the detection and identification of chemical agents of terrorism. Duties will require good familiarity with clinical toxicology or analytical chemistry methods and instrumentation; extensive knowledge of clinical lab sciences and operations; and experience meeting grant/program objectives. Collaboration and coordination of these activities with the Division of Chemistry & Toxicology Division of Infectious Disease MDHHS Epidemiology and Division of Emergency Preparedness & Response is required. Collaboration with other agencies such as Hazmat/First Responders Department of Environmental Great Lakes & Energy and Michigan State Police will be expected.

Education
Possession of a bachelors degree in chemistry biochemistry biology microbiology forensic science or a related pure or applied science.
Experience
Three years of professional experience carrying out a variety of tests analyses or production and research activities involving chemical biochemical and biological samples specimens and products equivalent to a Laboratory Scientist including one year equivalent to a Laboratory Scientist P11.

Position Location/Remote Office: The physical location of this position is 3350 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Lansing MI.
Employees will be provided computers to perform state work. Phones may also be provided for necessary communications.
