Science Service Sustainability


The Water Quantity Permitting Geologist/Hydrologistprovides support to the Groundwater Capacity Use Permitting Program and/or the Surface Water Withdrawal Permitting Program.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the permitting and registration of Surface and/or Groundwater withdrawers across South Carolina
  • Tracking and reviewing water use across the state
  • Entrylevel experience managing and interpreting data via ArcGIS Excel and Access and assisting with database management
  • Performs field visits to do records checks and well/intake construction observations
  • Provides entrylevel technical assistance to internal and external customers relating to the Surface and/or Groundwater Permitting Program
  • Attends meetings and conferences to gain experience networking and engaging with stakeholders
  • Assists other staff within the section as required

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A bachelors degree in hydrology geology or geological engineering.

Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.
