Job Description

NOTE: The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has issued new requirements for health care and congregant care facilities to decrease the risk of COVID19 outbreaks. Based on the CDPH public health mandate all candidates for positions at Edgewood Center must provide proof of vaccination. Edgewood Center will consider applicants with ADA and Title VII exemptions on a casebycase basis.

Residential Counselor UpnightThis is a fulltime 40 hours) nonexempt position. This position is located at our Vicente campus in San Francisco. The schedule is as follows:
.)Wed. 10pm9am Thurs.10pm8amFri.10pm9amSat. 10pm9am.

Position Summary
The Upnight Counselor is responsible for the provision of direct client services and care coordination for assigned youth and families within a designated program.This position is included in the Teamster Local 856 bargaining unit.

Counselor Levels
Counselor 1 Core Competencies and Tasks
  • Partners with the treatment team members in the assessment development implementation and evaluation of Individualized treatment and care plans
  • Coordination and facilitation skills
  • Case management mentoring and coaching skills
  • Develops maintains and strengthen partnerships
  • Generates reports both verbally and in writing
  • Maintains physical environment (duties include but are not limited to cleaning and organizing the classroom/cottage reporting safety issues to facilities doing and sorting laundry etc.
  • Seeks support and guidance from senior counselors
  • Adheres to agency protocols (call out protocol medication protocol SIR protocol training plan etc.
  • Meets program documentation standard (including increase in standard when taking OT shifts)
Counselor 2 Core Competencies and Tasks
  • Meeting and exceeding all areas of Cl category
  • Implements program structure
  • Strong problemsolving skills and is solution focused
  • Develops and implements positive programming opportunities for clients
  • Leads facilitates and manages small groups
  • Meets program documentation standard (including increase in standard when taking OT shifts)
  • Contributes positively to creating a healingcentered welcoming antiracist LGBTQ affirming team and organization.
  • Demonstrates cultural competency humility and sensitivity treating youth families and colleagues with dignity and respect.
Core Competencies
  • Employee adheres to basic expectations and essential job duties/functions as outlined in their individual job description.
  • Provides counseling and behavioral interventions guidance skills building and support in accordance with each clients individualized treatment plan and the programs treatment philosophy and model.
  • While under the counselors care maintains supervision of clients at all times to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
  • Contributes to organizationwide quality management and improvement efforts by consistently providing the highest quality professional interventions fulfilling all documentation requirements and proactively seeking ways to enhance the quality of services and surpass minimum required standards.
  • Contributes positively to creating a healingcentered welcoming antiracist LGBTQ affirming team and organization.
  • Demonstrates cultural competency humility and sensitivity treating youth families and colleagues with dignity and respect.
Applied Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to physically hold and/or restrain children following Handle with Care principles and techniques.
  • Must apply for or possess a National Provider Identification (NPI) Number within one week of date of hire.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid California Drivers License or able to obtain one.
  • Ability to communicate verbally in supervision meetings and with members of the team.
  • Demonstrated written proficiency.
  • Work experience in a residential school day care or child centered agency with focus on children with special needs preferred.
  • Ability to develop cultivate and adapt to the diverse cultural backgrounds of our clients.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team approach.
  • Thinks independently and can make informed decisions when needed
The hourly rate range for this position is: $25.46$30.09per hour and dependent on experience and language differentials.*Please note the language differential is contingent on passing a language proficiency test.
