Job Description
Position Highlights:

Job Summary:
Assists in planning organizing implementing and directing therapeutic play and recreation programs to effect improvement in the physical mental and social wellbeing of pediatric patients. Provides direction and guidance to support personnel.
What Youll Need:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited university in Recreation Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation.
- Certification by the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation and licensed by the North Carolina Board of Recreational Therapy.
What Youll Do:
- Designs and implements therapeutic treatment activities to facilitate rehabilitation of individuals with illnesses or disabling conditions.
- Conducts group and individual recreation activities according to patients needs capabilities and interests. Provides counseling to develop patients social skills selfesteem and other related issues.
- Consults with nursing personnel medical staff and other members of the healthcare team to assess the recreational needs and communicate progress of patients. Participates in patient care conferences and makes recommendations concerning new recreational therapy methods and techniques.
- Works with relatives to educate in treatment and behavioral interventions and in the coordination of community resources prior to discharge. Represents program in community.
- Maintains documentation and prepares reports reflecting patients behavior and progress for medical staff and other team members.
- Assists in the selection distribution maintenance storage evaluation and purchase of recreational supplies and equipment.
- Provides instruction and guidance to allied health students or volunteers in recreational therapy methods and techniques.
- Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
