ANTICIPATED HIRING RANGE: $9333 $10417

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS TO APPLICANT:

FOR PRIORITY CONSIDERATION applications must be received by March 30 2025; however the position will remain open until filled.

POSITION PURPOSE:Under the administrative direction of the Executive Director for Civil Rights & Compliance the Conflict Resolution Manager supports the universitys commitment to fostering a culture of integrity that emphasizes inclusiveness empathy safety and a sense of belonging in the campus community. The Conflict Resolution Manager independently facilitates impacted party outreach efforts intake meetings and informal resolution processes in matters involving potential violations of Interim CSU Nondiscrimination Policy. The Conflict Resolution Manager collaborates with students staff and faculty to address concerns and initiate conflict resolution efforts in a manner that prioritizes equity restorative practices and compliance with all policies.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conflict Resolution Intake & Facilitation

  1. Receive incident reports/formal complaints from students staff and faculty. Schedule and facilitate party intake meetings.
  2. Serve as a confidential resource for faculty staff and management to assist in addressing workplace disputes informally.
  3. Assess eligibility and appropriateness of Title IXDHR cases for policysupported early resolution.
  4. Provide guidance to stakeholders to ensure consistent application of policies.
  5. Research and interpret CSU and campusspecific policies procedures and regulations related to conflict resolution and equity.
  6. Design and facilitate tailored conflict resolution processes including mediated conversations resolution agreement development and educational interventions that consider restorative practices.
  7. Maintain neutrality and ensure fair and equitable treatment for all parties involved.
  8. Draft and finalize resolution agreements in accordance with institutional policy and applicable laws.
  9. Maintain accurate and confidential records of all conflict resolution activities and grievances in compliance with university policy and federal and state laws.
  10. Track case timelines to ensure resolutions are completed promptly.
  11. Collaborate with Title IX Coordinators DHR Administrators and other university stakeholders as needed to ensure comprehensive support for all parties.

Outreach Training & Collaboration

  1. Contribute to the development and delivery of workshops presentations and trainings for the campus community to promote awareness of conflict resolution options.
  2. Provide guidance and resources to students faculty and staff on conflict resolution strategies and prevention measure.
  3. Partner with campus offices such as Counseling University Police Human Resources Faculty Affairs Housing Disability Services and Student Affairs to coordinate support resources.

Compliance

  1. Ensure all conflict resolution processes comply with Title IX and DHR policies as well as relevant federal and state laws.
  2. Stay current with legal and regulatory changes related to Title IX DHR and conflict resolution practices.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Equivalent to a Bachelors degree in conflict resolution counseling psychology social work ethnic/gender/diversity studies higher education law or legal studies or a related field and four 4 years of demonstrated experience facilitating/mediating the resolution of problems and conflicts with some experience in higher education.

LICENSES Possession of a valid drivers license or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES (SKAs)

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: SEDENTARY WORK involves mainly sitting; minimal walking and standing; lifting light weight objects limited to 15 pounds.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

SCREENING: Only those applicants possessing experience most directly related to the immediate needs of the office will be invited to appear before a Qualifications Appraisal Board for the purpose of appraising training experience and interest in the position.

BACKGROUND CHECK: Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

SENSITIVE POSITION: Sensitive positions are designated by the CSU as requiring heightened scrutiny of individuals holding the position based on potential for harm to children concerns for the safety and security of the people animals or property or heightened risk of financial loss to the CSU or individuals in the university community.

MANDATED REPORTER: General: The person holding this position is considered a general mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 revised July 21 2017.
