The LA County Board of Supervisors recentlydeclared a local state of emergency for homelessness and the County is working to revise and expand our response to help all who are affected. We are looking for qualified and passionate individuals to help us in the mission of addressing issues like housing mental health and substance use. If you are looking for a new career that will directly benefit the population of LA County this may be the opportunity for you.Analyzes and makes recommendations to the unit manager for the resolution of problems of work procedure and space allocation; and may participate in the implementation of changes resulting from recommendations.
Prepares reports and projections of workload and staffing for the manager of the unit.
Coordinates and resolves problems between the unit served and departmental housekeeping payroll personnel and reproduction services.
Has responsibility for evaluating ordering maintaining loaning and inventorying supplies and equipment and for resolving procurement problems with the departmental supply officer.
Supervises clerical personnel with responsibility for assigning and reviewing work orientation training development and evaluation of work performance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
One years experience in either 1 a staff capacity* analyzing and making recommendations for the solution of problems of organization procedure program budget or personnel or 2 a highly responsible secretarial capacity** or 3 a responsible supervisory clerical capacity***.
*Staff capacity is defined as working in an advisory capacity to line managers to provide program and administrative support.
**All classes in the Secretarial Group perform duties composed of essentially the same basic activities and operations. Positions in these classes are allocated when the work of the supervisor requires fulltime personal secretarial assistance. The level of secretary allocated is related primarily to the level of supervisor served. Highly responsible secretarial capacity is defined as working as secretary to provide fulltime secretarial assistance to the head of a major section or minor division having 1000 or more employees.
***Supervisory clerical capacity is defined as having full supervisory responsibility including planning assigning scheduling hiring rating performance evaluations disciplining and counseling clerical employees. Provides daytoday technical and administrative supervision to subordinate clerical staff.
NO OUTOFCLASS EXPEREIENCE WILL BE ACCEPTED.REQUIRED EXPERIENCE MUST BE FULLY MET AND INDICATED ON THE APPLICATION BY THE LAST DAY OF FILING. NO WITHHOLDS WILL BE ALLOWED FOR THIS EXAMINATION.
LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out jobrelated essential functions.
PHYSICAL CLASS:
Physical Class II Light: This class includes administrative and clerical positions requiring light physical effort that may include occasional light lifting to a 10 pound limit and some bending stooping or squatting. Considerable ambulation may be involved.
EXAMINATION CONTENT:
Under the emergency order applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days with an opportunity for permanent County employment.
Before the end of your initial work period you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100.Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment.
