Job Description

Marketing Assistant (Summer Student)
SUMMER 2025 TERM 8 weeks)

McMan Youth Family and Community Services Association of Calgary & Area is an organization that makes a difference in the lives of more than 4100 vulnerable members of our community annually. We support children youth and families with complex needs including mental health sexual exploitation addiction homelessness poverty and disability by providing them with the services and support they need to thrive.

McMan is recruiting a Summer Student to join our Development Marketing and Communications team for the summer of 2025. If you are interested in marketing communications and fund development and would like to learn while supporting our Agency over a busy summer this is the role for you!

This is a Canada Summer Jobs role and is open to youth between 15 and 30 years of age. You must be a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment and have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada.

Some of the key aspects of this role include:

Marketing and Communications
Assist the Fund Development Marketing and Communications team with daytoday marketing and communications needs
Create engaging promotional content for campaigns events presentations McMan Calgary website print marketing collateral social media and other content
Write content for newsletters media releases reports social media and other sources
Support community engagement and build brand awareness
Assist with visual storytelling through video and photography
Track and report on key metrics and impact

Fund Development
Assist the team with daytoday Fund Development needs
Support the coordination and of fundraising events and campaigns as required
Create engaging promotional content to support fundraising activities
Assist with building and maintaining the donor database
Contribute to the development strategy of building and maintaining strong donor relationships

The successful candidate will bring:
At least three years education working towards a Certificate Diploma or Degree in Marketing or Communications (In lieu of three years of education a combination of education and experience will be considered)
A good base knowledge of Marketing and Communications (Fund Development knowledge is preferred but not required)
Strong interpersonal communication public speaking and problemsolving skills
Curiosity adaptability and the ability to work independently
Ability to pass a Police/Vulnerable Sector Check.

Additional Competencies preferred
Experience with Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) software
Fund Development knowledge
Knowledge of the nonprofit and social services sector
