Job Description
Position: Consultant Physician with a Special Interest in Stroke Medicine
Salary: Competitive (Dependent on experience)
Location: Manchester
Overview:
A fantastic opportunity for a Consultant Physician with a Special Interest in Stroke Medicine to join a forwardthinking NHS team. Youll provide expert care across a 7day stroke service including a Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) Neurovascular clinics and rehabilitation.
Theres flexibility to develop subspecialty interests in areas such as Elderly Care or Neurology with opportunities for teaching research and service development. Supportive mentoring a collaborative multidisciplinary team and a modern Telestroke rota make this an ideal role for both new and experienced consultants.
Remuneration & Benefits:
Competitive salary negotiable depending on experience
Relocation support up to 20000 (subject to eligibility)
Essential Requirements:
Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise
MRCP (or equivalent)
High level of clinical experience and competence in Stroke Medicine
Excellent communication and organisational skills
Empathetic and sensitive approach to patient care
Ability to take full independent responsibility for clinical care
Desirable Attributes:
Postgraduate qualification
Additional specialist interest in:
Elderly Care
Neurology
Clinical Pharmacology
Acute Medicine
Business planning experience
Interest in developing links with Acute Medicine or Primary Care
Experience in research and teaching
Publications in peerreviewed journals
Educational qualification
Ability to supervise postgraduate research
Experience teaching nonmedical health professionals
Working Pattern & OnCall:
Flexible working across sites in the Manchester region.
7day Consultant availability required for Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) Neurovascular clinics and stroke rehabilitation ward
Oncall commitment: 1:14 via Telestroke system
Consultantled decision making for thrombolysis and thrombectomy referrals during the working day
Multidisciplinary working with Stroke ACPs Nurse Consultant therapists and clinical neuropsychologists
Application Requirements:
Applications must clearly demonstrate consultantlevel competencies in stroke medicine.
Shortlisted candidates will be invited to formal panel assessments.
