About the workplace

The Senior Analyst Insights reports to the Manager Climate Strategy and Performance and works closely with our Analytics Centre of Excellence. The scope of the role is enterprise wide and key responsibilities include extracting and handling large complex datasets developing/implementing solutions to improve processes generating actionable insights and tracking progress on Vancitys climate commitments. The role requires strong data management practices and the ability to communicate analysis and data insights visually verbally and in writing.

The analyst will support a wide range of initiatives including those related to climate change financial health and inclusion and sustainable finance. The role includes monitoring relevant best practices and relevant external frameworks and standards to identify and implement improvements and there will be opportunities to represent Vancity in external working groups.

The analyst will be responsible for generating data for impact and climaterelated reports and disclosures. This includes quantifying financed emissions using methodologies from the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) tracking progress on Vancitys interim climate targets and generating and reporting data for other Impact related initiatives including Triple Bottom Line Assets Under Administration.

This role requires someone with excellent technical and analytical skills as well as strong problem solving communications and project management skills. The analyst will ensure strong disclosure and review controls are in place to support external assurance. While not required the ideal candidate will have subject matter expertise in sustainability and climaterelated topics especially as they pertain to financial institutions.

This is a 12month contract role that will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Vancity head office location and your Lower Mainland based home office. This role may require you to work inoffice at least once a week.

A typical day may involve:

  • Resolving complex information needs and translating them into executable research and analytics initiatives.
  • Compiling and communicating regular and ad hoc reports research and analytics insights to enable the delivery of key business strategies and decisions including dashboards.
  • Designing building reviewing and improving analytical processes and solutions to enable effective decisionmaking in support of Vancitys climate financial health & inclusion indigenous banking and other impact strategies (including member valuation frameworks segmentations and predictive models).
  • Recommending and supporting data improvement initiatives including data preparation data access and data reliability. Evaluating and integrating internal and external data sets.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation to ensure transparency replicability and cross collaboration and to support audits.
  • Providing advice to senior leaders regarding the availability and applicability of climate and impact related insights to inform key strategic business decisions.
  • Identifying emerging trends risks and opportunities assess implications and make recommendations to management to mitigate potential risks and identify potential opportunities for the business.
  • Working closely with the Analytics Centre of Excellence and in collaboration with leaders business stakeholders consultants and external agencies/data providers as needed.

You have:

  • Excellent analytical thinking capability skilled at probing stakeholders to uncover business problems and translating these into analytical questions and summarizing insights to reach conclusion
  • Excellent communication skills. Strong ability to explain complicated ideas to broader audiences using nontechnical language
  • Strong presentation skills able to organize information and present analytical result in an efficient manner
  • Bachelors Degree in Mathematics Statistics Physics Data or Computer Science Economics Accounting. Finance or other quantitative fields
  • 57 years of experience in analytics
  • Thorough working knowledge of relational databases and advanced SQL data extraction and manipulation tools (must have)
  • Proficient in Power BI and Excel (must have)
  • Ability to access complex data sources explore data resources clean and compile data to provide analytical driven solutions to real business problems
  • You are familiar with best practices in statistical methodologies and innovative analytical tools and can leverage this knowledge to support our business stakeholders to make stronger decisions

Bonus points if you have:

  • Experience and/or advanced knowledge in GHG quantification sustainability or climaterelated reporting and disclosures including PCAF climate target setting and/or impact measurement.
  • Experience in financial services/banking sustainable finance and/or credit risk.

Working level statistical skills including regression time series champion/challenger testing and decision tree modeling. The salary range for this role is $71500 to $107300 annually. Base pay offered may vary depending on factors such as relevant qualifications skills previous experience and internal equity. As part of our total rewards package employees may also be eligible for our annual incentive program subject to program eligibility requirements.
