Job Description
Do you have a pleasant personality an aptitude for mechanics and love the satisfaction of completing a task The Times Union is looking for a fulltime Forklift Operator to join our operations team.
Primary Duties:
- Safely load and unload trucks as required
- Maintain accurate receiving and shipping records
- Inventory and stage preprinted insert products
- Newsprint scheduling receiving storage and inventory management
- Lay down and prepare required newsprint for press use
- Collect organize and store all recyclable materials
- Receive and distribute incoming packages
- Assist other departments including Hearst Media Center as required
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma.
- Communication skills must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with delivery personnel employees and managers both verbally and via email.
- Mechanical aptitude Must possess (or be willing to be trained and pass a test to acquire) a valid forklift operators license.
Hours: 37.5 hours/week MondayFriday 8:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. plus 4hour shifts 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. every other Saturday (alternate with Lead Fork Lift Operator) after the training and certification period is complete. Hours can vary based on training production and vacation coverage needs.
Pay:This is a union position. Pay starts at $20.00 per hour and progresses with experience and any applicable contract terms.
