UNB Saint John offers three residence buildings with three unique styles of living that house a total of 353 students. UNB Saint John Residence offers students the freedom to make their own decisions in a supportive environment designed to ensure a successful transition to university life.

WHAT WE OFFER

Fulltime Continuing Saint John OnCampus

Standard Work Hours: Mon Fri 8:15 am 4:30 pm 36.25 hours per week

Additional Working Conditions:

  • Evening and weekend work required on an oncall basis.
  • Required to reside oncampus.
  • 2bedroom apartment and a full meal plan are included (taxable benefit).

Salary Range: $51042 $66358 per annum

YOUR FOCUS

Reporting to the Manager of Community Standards and Assessment the Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) is a critical leader in the daytoday student experience within the residence system. This position oversees the overall vision impact and administration of Residence Life on campus as well as all aspects of staff training and Residence Orientation. The RLC is responsible for the direct supervision of daily activities and the positive team dynamic of the Residence Life Team.

  • Recruit onboard train mentor and coach Residence Life student staff.
  • Oversee daytoday duties as well as create a schedule and chair weekly meetings.
  • Provide leadership mentoring and coaching to Residence Life student staff and conduct performance reviews.
  • Mediate roommate conflicts when needed as well as negotiate and deescalate student issues.
  • Advise students with personal emotional mental and academic concerns and/or refer them to the appropriate resources.
  • Consult with appropriate university personnel regarding any safety or security issues.
  • Organize manage and implement Residence Orientation in consultation with UNB Student Affairs & Services staff.
  • Plan and deliver house/community meetings.
  • Promote responsible behaviour through personal role modeling and mentoring.
  • Foster mutual understanding and inclusiveness for all cultures race sexual orientations gender identities etc.
  • Manage all Residence programming and activities; ensuring that Residence Assistants are providing a balanced program of social recreational and educational programs and approve RA budgets.
  • Keep the Manager of Community Standards and Assessment and Director Residence briefed on issues as they arise.
  • Edit the Residence handbook and contract on an as need basis.
  • Ensure residence rules/policies are kept uptodate and reflect the current needs of students within reason.
  • Create a duty schedule for RAs.
  • Participate in various university committees as assigned by the Manager of Community Standards and Assessment.
  • Keep detailed documentation of interactions with students.
  • Understand and be able to coordinate/manage resources in residence in emergency situations (medical crisis sexual etc..
  • Assist other Residence staff when the need arises or when assigned by the Manager of Community Standards and Assessment.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelors degree required.
  • 23 years of experience in a previous Residence Life role.
