Job Description

Job Summary
This position assists Principal Investigators at the Huntsman Cancer Institute HCI by performing administrative and technical functions associated with grants contracts and agreements from external funding sources. The position also serves as a liaison to the Office of Sponsored Projects OSP Institutional Review Board IRB Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee IACUC the Office of the Vice President and Research and other campus entities as necessary. This position is hybrid and a successful candidate will telecommute from home. Responsibilities
Essential preaward duties include but are not limited to: 1. Assist faculty in developing and submitting proposals for extramural funding. 2. Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with faculty and their Administrative Assistants (AA) while assisting with submission of proposals of varying complexity and deadlines. 3. Advise faculty as appropriate regarding potential risks irregularities of proposal applications and responsibilities. 3. Work with other institutions to prepare subcontract documents and if applicable ensure documents are in compliance with Uniform Guidance terms and conditions and other required federal regulations. 4. Work closely with the University of Utah Office of Sponsored Projects OSP to ensure that grant applications are routed to OSP for required internal deadlines and assist faculty members with any issues from the OSP review. 5. Assist faculty with the sponsors postaward information requests. This includes but is not limited to: NIH Just in Time JIT and DOD PreAward Information Requests PAIR . 6. Review and set up grant awards and transition them to the appropriate PostAward GMS for post award management. 7. Maintain a current knowledge of changing institutional policies and federal requirements governing externally funded grants and contracts. In addition to post duties HCI Grants & Contracts Officers assist with maintaining the NCI / NIH required elements of the Cancer Center Support Grant CCSG . A CCSG role is assigned at time of hire and is based on component need. Minimum Qualifications
Masters Degree or Bachelors degree four years of related experience or 12 years of related experience or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
