Job Description

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree Science in Nursing (BSN) (Required)
  • CPR BLS American Heart Association BLS maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • RN Registered Nurse RN Licensure within the State of Florida or MultiState Enhanced Nursing License Compact (eNLC) maintain active and in good standing throughout employment
  • 35 years Managerial experience in an acute care environment
  • 24 years Pediatric experience

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Masters Degree MSN MHA or MBA preferred
  • NEBC or NEABC preferred.
  • Certification after two years preferred.
  • Demonstrated mastery of Nurse Residency and Magnet programs; strong program development skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbal and written when representing the Nursing department.
  • Analytical and fiscal abilities in order to administer complex budgets and short/long range goals.
  • Support for professional and interdisciplinary research and educational activities through collaboration and leadership.
  • Excellent analytical critical thinking skills to resolve complex administrative issues demonstrates sound judgment in making decisions related to patient care and employee issues and able to effectively deal with physicians peers superiors and subordinates.
  • Builds effective working relationships throughout the organization with directors managers staff physicians patients/families and suppliers.
  • Possess consultative collaborative and effective communication skills necessary to partner with teams in the organization.
  • Demonstrated contributions to department/patient care enhancement and growth as well as growth of employees under their direction.
  • Actively seeks out selfdevelopment and education opportunities.

Job Summary
Oversees and directs departmental activities to ensure quality services for both internal and external customers. Supports and upholds the Hospital Mission Vision Values and Guiding Behaviors Patient Bill of Rights and the Code of Business and Ethical Conduct.

Job Specific Duties

  • Provide leadership and oversight of the Magnet designation and redesignation process including 1 working in collaboration with the VP/CNO and Nursing Leadership to ensure the Forces of Magnetism are integrated throughout nursing practice in the organization; 2 collecting maintaining and coordinating the submission of application materials; and 3 promoting staff education and organizational awareness.
  • Provides leadership and oversight of Nurse Residency Program SNIP Programs Nursing Research Clinical Specialists Clinical Educators and the HAC program.
  • Collaborates across the organization to improve and sustain a high level of nursing care quality and ensures sustainability of quality metrics/programs.
  • Analyze nursing/patient outcomes and collaborates with nursing & hospital leadership in support of and leading special projects.
  • Fosters the Magnet culture leads and supports Nursing Excellence programs and strategies and ensures clinical staff engagement in shared leadership activities.
  • Ensures a consistent approach to nursing sensitive patient care outcomes data collection and reporting.
  • Serve as the liaison to Schools of Nursing providing RN to BSN education to ensure coordination of professional skill development and transition into clinical practice.
  • Evaluates and coordinates the annual competency review process ensuring standardization of nursing competency.
  • Communicates nursing practice changes across all nursing departments.
  • Ensures coordination across all nursing departments in response to regulatory action plans related to nursing practice.
  • Continually analyzes and supports/leads efforts to ensure caredelivery processes are at the cutting edge of clinical quality and safety. Supports safety culture initiatives and ensures a very high level of compliance with CMS and publicreporting indicators of clinical practice.
  • Incorporates improvement science principles into quality/process improvement activities while working with leadership ensuring application of evidenced based practice in the departments.
  • Provides oversight to ensure all nursing policies procedures and standard work are uptodate and current. Assuring compliance with DNV state and federal regulations as well as current evidencebased guidelines.
  • Remains current with state and federal associations professional trends and by participating in community activities. Actively involved in a professional organization. Shares best practices with nursing leadership.
  • Ensures highest integrity for the business operations of the departments. Oversees the development of nursing capital and operating budgets as appropriate through collaboration with Chief Nursing Officer/VicePresident and other Vice Presidents making changes as necessary.
  • Oversees and supports talent development of the Professional Nursing Practice team to ensure succession planning mentorship and coaching leading to strategic goal accomplishment and fostering a culture of accountability. Provides ongoing performance feedback coaching and mentoring.
