Job Description
SMO ICU/CCU will perform shift duties and obligations in the Intensive Care Unit/Critical Care Unit treats patients revealing with health crises. Care of patients & if necessary alludes/refer them to various units. Additionally performs Medico legal work.
The Senior Medical Officer will work with our senior doctors consultants medical officers and staff nurses to provide high standards of patient care that is safe and patientcentred. All the Managerial/Regulatory/Supervisory Curative/Clinical Preventive/Promotive and General duties would include but are not limited to the following:
- Any Managerial/Regulatory/Supervisory duties assigned by the HOD Intensive Care. from time to time.
- Performs indoor and outdoor clinical duties according to job descriptions of Indoor/Outdoor Medical/Senior Medical Officers.
- Complies service deliverance as provided in Minimum Service Delivery Standards (MSDS) SOPs specially on IC & WM (Infection Control & Waste Management) and SMPs (Standardized Medical Protocols).
- Examines the patients directly reporting in the Intensive Care Unit in detail and records brief history findings and probable diagnosis and treatment with date time signs and affixes name stamp.
- Undertakes all life saving measures e.g. CPR with full protocol.
- Orders and records the investigations.
- Prescribes medicines to be taken at home in case it is considered that the consultation of consultants/specialists is not required.
- Discusses urgent matters relating to patients management with consultants/specialists on telephone and acts accordingly.
- Refers the patients to other consultants/specialists & facilities as per policy. Admits the patients as decided by the consultants/specialists.
- Ensures the availability of life saving and that the emergency tray is always ready.
- Attends Medico Legal Cases according to SOPs on the subject.
- Records duty performed in the appropriate Records forms and registers provided.
- Ensures compliance of SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and SMPs (Standardized Medical Protocols).
- Ensures that instruments/equipment being used in examinations and procedures is properly sterilized.
- Ensures that all staff participating in the procedures is physically well protected by wearing of proper dress & PPEs (Personal Protective Equipment) i.e. gowns masks caps gloves and shoes.
- Checks the punctuality of the staff attached to his section.
- Checks the cleanliness and up keep of the unit.
- Ensures that responsible staff regularly upkeeps & maintains electromedical equipment of the unit to ensure their functionality at all the time.
- Ensures that responsible staff is regular in supply/replenishment of medicines & stores.
- Ensures the preparation and implementation of the duty roster for his unit. Provides technical assistance to the management for purchase of new equipment / instruments needed from timetotime for the unit.
- Writes Objective Performance Evaluation Reports of subordinate staff.
- Performs any other professional task assigned by the in charge.
Qualifications :
MBBS & FCPS/MD Training in Medicine/Nephrology or Pulmonology with a valid PMDC license
Experience: Must have completed FCPS training in a recognized Tertiary Care Hospital
