This position is located in the Infectious Disease (ID) Therapeutic Area in the Virology Team where we strive to perform innovative research to reliably develop transformational therapies for patients. The ID Virology Team is focused on the identification and validation of novel therapeutic targets in the context of emerging viral diseases with pandemic potential. We closely collaborate across the Roche organization and with external partners to develop the next generation of innovative therapeutics.
We are offering an outstanding opportunity for a scientist to work with multidisciplinary teams of scientists dedicated to initiating and implementing novel drug discovery projects in the area of treatment of viral diseases and to jointly shape our future portfolio of antiinfectives as a member of a broad network of drug discovery specialists.
Your responsibilities:
Leading drug discovery projects in the area of acute viral infections from the initial concept to the identification of molecular starting points and their progression to advanced leads ready for clinical trials.
Ensuring and facilitating transparent decisionmaking within teams guided by clear decision criteria and based on thorough data analysis.
Providing an expert opinion on internal and external activities in the area of virus biology.
People and teamfocused management of groups of scientists including development and mentoring of junior colleagues and peers.
Nurturing trustful relationships and effective collaboration with internal and external partners to deliver on our collective research goals.
You have a PhD and/or postdoctoral experience in Virology with a focus on flaviviruses. Experience with alphaviruses is a plus.
You bring expertise in viral replication mechanisms viral enzyme biology replicon systems and viral infection models along with associated research methods. You also have experience working with viruses in both BSL2 and BSL3 environments.
You have demonstrated scientific excellence in academic or industry track record.
You have experience working with and managing teams of scientists to conduct focused research programs and deliver timely highquality results
You possess strong oral and written communication skills you are proficient in preparing and running effective meetings and interacting with teams of scientists.
You have a collaborative scientific spirit that can foster cooperative interpersonal working relationships listen effectively and can develop a rapport with others inclusively across large project teams.
