Position Summary
The Department of Theatre at Villanova University seeks an artist specializing in performance for a Tenure track Assistant Professor position. Position begins in Fall 2023. The teaching load is 32 courses per semester. Areas of expertise may include but are not limited to: Applied Theatre Community Engagement Theatre for Social Change Movement and Devising and/or Voice for the Actor. Duties And Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in performance including acting scene study and voice and movement as well as other new and existing departmental courses in a way that fosters connections across the discipline and the Villanova community. A successful candidate will also be expected to engage with Villanova Theatres production season as a movement consultant choreographer and/or director and encouraged to contribute to career advisement and curriculum development. Candidates must demonstrate commitment to identityconscious culturally sensitive and inclusive teaching and creative strategies as well as recognition of and facility with the changing needs of the 21stcentury theatre artist in an evolving professional and global landscape. Teaching experience at any and all levels including student and adjunct teaching is valued. Minimum Qualifications
Terminal Degree 3 years of teaching experience Experience in theatrical devising and/or movement Demonstrated commitment to diversity equity and inclusion in pedagogical and artistic practice
Preferred Qualifications
MFA Graduate and undergraduatelevel teaching experience Evidence of professional creative activity Expertise in devising and/or movement Experience in Voice for the Actor Experience with performance modes and/or practices that provide alternatives to and/or resist white Eurocentric traditions Interest and/or experience in community engagement A colleague that complements and extends what we currently offer students
