Program Overview Integrated Employment Services Community Programs
The Employment Consultant Internationally Trained Professionals (ITP) is a shared role between the Integrated Employment Services (IES) program and a newcomer employment program dedicated to internationally trained professionals. The Employment Consultant is part of a highperformance team that improves communities families and individual lives through effective access to employment. Working at a local Integrated Employment Services Centre or other sites in the City of Toronto they rapidly help internationally trained professionals increase competitiveness/access to priority occupations and supports them to find quality sustainable employment.


What You Will Do
  • Build rapport and an emotionally supportive context for each client to feel trusting engage readily in the job search process and believe in their own success to obtain employment. Help clients build their motivation and confidence.
  • Ensure clients understand the Integrated Employment Services approach and the value of services provided particularly retention support.
  • Create equity in all aspects of service delivery striving for inclusion and equitable outcomes for all jobseekers who come to WoodGreen.
  • Collaborate as a team with the other Employment ConsultantsITP and the Practice Lead for Newcomer Employment to develop and deliver employment workshops tailored to the needs of internationally trained professionals and coordinate mentorship opportunities for clients.
  • Manage a caseload of jobseekers in various stages of job readiness. Using excellent time management and efficiency effective appointment planning client assignments and group activities move clients toward employment with pace and urgency.
  • Maintain accountability for monthly individual intake and employed targets.
  • Offer a variety of workshops or training activities using different formats (e.g. oneonone group event virtual online learning platform etc. that support with learning about and navigating the Canadian labour market employment standards act and workplace culture.
  • Compassionately and effectively administer the Province of Ontarios Common Assessment Tool and intake clients into the Integrated Employment Services program.
  • Through a series of primarily inperson individualized client appointments and group activities help move the client to employment by following the Integrated Employment Services Guidelines as prepared by WCG as well as WoodGreens standard operating procedures.
  • Coordinate and/or directly deliver services at varying levels based on need as specified in the WCG Integrated Employment Services Guidelines related to the Newcomer inclusion group.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service and skills in the delivery of client activities particularly: developing an employment action plan needs assessment goal setting resume and cover letter development applying for positions interview prep online job search working on personal presentation including positive body language.
  • Directly engage with employers on behalf of clients to confirm open positions understand job needs advocate for clients set interviews etc.
  • Collaborate with social assistance caseworkers to coordinate the appropriate life stabilization services for OW/ODSP clients per WCG guidelines and WoodGreen procedures.
  • As needed sit with and support clients as they use onsite computers for labour market research resume development job searching interview practice etc.
  • In an efficient and prompt manner complete all documentation and data entry per funders requirements and WoodGreen standard operating procedures (e.g. client notes data entry referrals updating forms).
  • Work collaboratively as a team with Job Developers and Career Success Coaches to ensure effective case management and achieve positive outcomes for each jobseeker.
  • Collaborate effectively with the WoodGreens appointment booking team Settlement Counsellors Financial Empowerment Counsellors volunteers and students and other WoodGreen teams and staff for a smooth and positive client journey that best meets the clients needs.
  • Provide customer service support at the front desk engage in outreach activities.
  • Participate in and complete upgrading training and education as required by WoodGreen.
  • Participate in regular supervisory sessions with the manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What You Bring to the Team
  • Degree or diploma in Social Work Social Services Workers or related field.
  • Experience and/or training in career counselling (e.g. needs assessment job search job development job retention)particularly for midcareer professionals with training and work experience outside of Canada.
  • Experience in leading group workshops or activities.
  • Knowledge of labour market trends especially related to employment of vulnerable populations including youth newcomers OW/ODSP recipients and longtime unemployed population.

  • Ability to meet potential requirement to occasionally work evenings and weekends and report to work at various WoodGreen locations throughout Toronto.
