Job Description:
Starting hourly pay rate is $26.742. Effective 7/1/2025 hourly pay rate will be $27.343.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Post high school coursework/training in the following areas: physics chemistry or health physics; radiological instrumentation/ regional/urban/community planning disaster planning public safety program planning or transportation planning; and experience in one or more of the following areas: public speaking adult education or instruction AND successful completion of NEMA Basic Academy and FEMA Independent Study Courses IS1 3 5.a 7 10aHC 100KEb 100PWb 100SCa 11 120a 130 200HCza 394a 546a 546b 547a 548 650a00and 836 and NIMSand 800 series courses. Also must have attended and completed the following courses: E304 Radiological Emergency Preparedness Exercise Evaluation Course; Federal Radiological Monitoring and Assessment Center Workshop (FRRMAAC); G290 Risk Communications (may substitute any Risk Communications course); G346 or Program YPER267 Hospital Dept. Management of Radiological and other HazMat Accidents(may substitute any Radiological Hospital Emergency Response Course); ISC 300 Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents; ISC 400Advanced Radiological Incident Operations Course; NE001COMMAdvanced Planning Concepts: Developing Incident Action Plans; G358Evacuation Planning and Reentry Course; S301 or PER904 Radiological Emergency Response Operations Course; S302 or PER905Advanced Radiological Incident Operations Course; S425 or PER266 Radiological Series Train the Trainer Course; DOE Module Emergency Radiological Response Transportation Training Course (MERRTT) DOE Module Emergency Radiological Response Transportation Training Train the Trainer Course (MERRTTTTT); Program APER261Hazardous Materials Technician for CBRNE Incidents; Program VPER201WMD Radiological/Nuclear Awareness; Program BPER260 Technical Emergency Response Training for CBRNE Incidents; DOJ Counter Terrorism Operations Training Courses (CTOS); OnLine Courses: AWR140W WMD Radiological/Nuclear Awareness; AWR160WWMD All Hazard Awareness Level; Nevada Test Site or Mobile Training Team Courses; and AWR1401 WMD Radiological/Nuclear Awareness Train the Trainer.
Preferred Qualifications: Courses required for completion within first two years of employment include: FEMA Radiological Emergency Preparedness AWR352 REP Planning Core Concepts Course PER904 Radiological Emergency Response Operations Course (RERO) PER 305 Advanced Radiological Emergency Response Operations Course (ARIO) and PER388 Radiological Operations Support Specialist (ROSS). Federal Radiological Monitoring and Assessment Center (FRMAC) Workshop; G290 Risk Communications (may substitute any Risk Communications course); EMO PER367 Emergency Medical Operations for CBRNE Incidents; G358 Evacuation Planning and Reentry Course; PER266 DOE Module Emergency Radiological Response Transportation Training Course (MERRTT); Program APER261 Hazardous Materials Technician for CBRNE Incidents; Program VPER201WMD Radiological/Nuclear Awareness; Program BPER260 Technical Emergency Response Training for CBRNE Incidents; DOJ Counter Terrorism Operations Training Courses (CTOS). Prefer formal training in the NEMA REP program and/or military/civilian CBRN planning training exercise or response.
Other: This position utilizes the following federal and state programs and must maintain a working knowledge of the interrelationship between programs; Homeland Security Exercise Evaluation Program (HSEEP) National Incident Management System (NIMS) Nuclear Regulation 0654 for power plants (NUREG 0654 Radiological Emergency Preparedness Planning Manual (REPP) Planning and Evaluator Courses and the MERRT Train the Trainer. Background and motor vehicle request checks will be required. Must have a valid drivers license. Incumbents in this position after a successful probationary period are assigned as an Agency Watch Officer on a rotational basis. When serving as Watch Officer the incumbent must be available in the event of an emergency on a 24hour basis for a seven day period. Additionally incumbent must be able to report to the NEMA office within a timely manner and be available to travel away from home for up to two weeks at a time. Normal oversight travel up to 1015 of work schedule. Physical requirements include the ability to move/lift/push/pull 50 lbs. on occasion and the ability to work in outdoor temperature extremes.
