Job Description

Summary

Are you passionate about construction and code complianceand ready to take your expertise into the field The City of Medford is looking for a skilled and detailoriented Residential Inspector to join our Building Safety team. In this vital role youll conduct onsite inspections ensure compliance with state and local codes and play a key part in maintaining safe highquality construction standards throughout our growing community.   • Prior construction inspection and plan review experience.

  • Monday Friday 7:00 AM 3:30 PM

Effective July 1 2025 the salary schedule shall be increased by a 2.0 salary adjustment
plus a 2.5 costofliving adjustment (COLA).

Certification Pay Differential:

This position may be eligible for additional pay based on certifications. Employees who obtain the following certifications may receive a 5 pay differential per certification up to a maximum of 10 additional pay:

  • CAE(Residential Electrical Inspector)
  • CAP(Residential Plumbing Inspector)
  • MIA(Mechanical Inspector ALevel)
  • PEF(Fire and Life Safety Plans Examiner)
  • SIA(Structural/Mechanical Inspector)

The anticipated hiring range for the Residential Inspectorposition is $31.37(first step) to $32.94or $34.59(second or third step).The City of Medford determines starting pay based on an evaluation of relevant education experience andqualifications as provided by the applicant in their application materials alongside others who perform work of comparable character consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act. Six steps are included in this salary range allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:
This job performs work both in an office environment and in the field. When in an office environment work is conducted in regulated environmental conditions. This role involves time spent sitting at a desk working on a computer. The noise level is typically moderate to medium. When fieldwork is required you will be exposed to the elements (rain heat cold) and work within congested traffic areas. The outside work environment can include walking on uneven terrain. This environment may also include interactions with the public.

To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. This position requires extended periods of standing walking and sitting. Must be able to crouch bend stoop twist turn and balance. The employee regularly operates various office equipment including computers printers copy machines calculators and telephones. Good eyesight hearing and dexterity are required.
