Description
We are seeking a handson Staff Electrical Engineer to bring creativity intellectual rigor and an effective balance of theory and empiricism to electrical designs. You will take a proactive stance in solving design challenges and thrive in a highly collaborative crossfunctional environment. This role involves designing complex PCBAs selecting stateoftheart electrical components and implementing robust strategies to enhance the overall electrical architecture and system performance. You will collaborate with crossfunctional teams including mechanical software and systems engineers to ensure seamless integration of electrical designs. Additionally youll ensure compliance with stringent medical standards focusing on electrical safety and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC/EMI) requirements. This is a unique opportunity to apply your expertise in cutting edge technologies towards the development of a transformative medical device that will significantly improve the lives of heart failure patients. This is a fulltime onsite position and will require reporting to our offices located in Los Gatos CA.
Responsibilities Skills & HandsOn Experience
  • Design and development of embedded microcontroller circuitry utilizing embedded development tools.
  • Schematic capture and Multilayer Rigid RigidFlex and Flex PCB layout using Altium Designer.
  • Integration of COTS power supplies and embedded computers along with custom boards into medical equipment.
  • Design construction and programming of product prototypes and test systems.
  • Handson circuit debugging and bench testing.
  • Collaboration on electronics enclosure design.
  • Development of design requirements and specifications based on toplevel product requirements.
  • Development and of design verification protocols.
  • Ensure designs meet all design requirements relevant standards and regulations (e.g. IEC 60601 ISOCFR 820 FCC Parts 15 and 18.
  • Knowledge of medical industry standards Design Controls and Risk Management (IEC 60601 ISO 13485 ISO 14971.
  • Experience with serial data hardware: SPI I2C UART.
  • Design and analysis of analog and passive linear circuits (RLC circuit analysis in time and frequency domains).
  • Switchmode power conversion circuit design.
  • Proficient in using electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes logic analyzers DVMs spectrum / vector network analyzers and emulators).
  • Understanding of RF EMC ESD and signal integrity best practices in PCB design.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills.
Preferred Skills & HandsOn Experience
  • Experience with magnetic component design.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop C code for embedded microcontroller applications.
  • Engineering programming in Python or Matlab/Octave.
  • Experience using COMSOL ANSYS or other commercial multiphysics simulation package for linked electromagnetic and thermal modelling.
  • Experience developing code for ARM CortexM3 and M0.
  • Experience using GCC or Texas instruments Code Composer Studio.
  • Experience with Zigbee or other 80215 stack.
  • Basic proficiency with SolidWorks.
  • 1 years in active implantable / FDA Class III medical device design.
  • Advanced degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience in a venturefunded startup environment.
Education & Work Experience
  • BS in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in medical device development.
  • 8 years of relevant work experience including 1 years in embedded hardware design.
Our salary ranges are calculated by role and level. Your position within that range will be determined by your jobrelated knowledge skills experience relevant education and training/certifications. In addition to those factors we also examine internal equity as well as consider current market rate and title may be assessed one level lower or higher accordingly. After you join the company your performance contributions and results along with business and organizational needs will affect your base salary. The base salary range for this fulltime position is between $100000 to $200000 equity benefits.
