The Mechanical Power Conversion (MPC) business unit presents a unique opportunity to eager candidates interested in participating and influencing all aspects of the technical management of the fuel and lube & scavenge pump product line. Located in Rockford Illinois MPC is a roughly $200 M/year business supplying gearboxes fuel and lubrication pumps air turbine starters and blowers to engine manufactures and airframers.

The Pump Design Engineering Manager will have management accountability for all pump design activities. This accountability includes the early program phases from technology maturation to initial proposal through development and qualification until entry into service of a product. The successful candidate will report to the Design and Analysis Manager and will have a key role in establishing our products strategy for maintaining relevance in the marketplace along with the tactical of the steps needed to realize that strategy. The ideal candidate has strong problemsolving teamwork leadership skills and the ability to communicate effectively with customers and all levels of management.

What You Will Do

  • Lead and coach individual contributors on pump design RCCA investigations and process improvements
  • Be the MPC representative with key customers to develop relationship and understand customer and market driven needs to meet demands in support of strategic planning and .
  • Own the MPC standard work for pump design. Responsible for updating swim lanes to account for discipline updates and project owned activities with Lessons Learned Endorsed Practices and product line feedback.
  • Contribute to proposals through completion of design concept technical compliance matrices and technical volumes.
  • Technical oversight of pump design processes. This includes active participation in internal design reviews keeping in communication on each programs status and ensuring technical risks manufacturing considerations and other key metrics are not being sidelined during the design process.
  • Resource management within the pump design team. This includes cross training and succession planning within the organization for key roles/skill sets. Evaluating staffing needs pursuing and recruiting for both full time and coops to ensure department needs are met.
  • Work across the organization to identify and implement training and standards.

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizensare eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Advanced degree(s) in business management and/or technical discipline.
  • Project management or customer facing experience.
  • Design experience preferred
  • Lead or Management experience

The salary range for this role is 101000 USD 203000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities a candidates work experience location education/training and key skills.
