Job Description

At Vast our mission is to contribute to a future where billions of people are living and thriving in space. We are building artificial gravity space stations allowing longterm stays in space without the adverse effects of zerogravity. Our initial crewed space habitat will be Haven1 scheduled to be the worlds first commercial space station when it launches into low earth orbit in May 2026. Vast is looking for an Integration Engineer reporting to the Integration Manager to support the development of the systems required for the design and build of artificialgravity humanrated space stations. This will be a fulltime exempt position in our Long Beach location.

As an Integration Engineer you will develop creative solutions to complex assembly and production problems. You will play a critical role in our development and production teams creating integration procedures and processes for efficient manufacturability. Your input will be vital in designing and developing new and existing hardware to support the mission.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the assembly and inspection procedures for the structural propulsion and avionics assembly and integration of the Haven1.
  • Ensure integration procedures are continuously evolving to reflect the most efficient assembly practices.
  • Collaborate with other engineers subject matter experts and technicians to solve complex integration issues.
  • Work with design engineers to evaluate designs for manufacturability and implementation in a continuously evolving production environment.
  • Document and provide resolution to nonconformances and collaborate with the quality team to implement root cause corrective actions.
  • Identify develop plan and refine floor layout updates to maximize efficiency in the workflow of production hardware.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in mechanical manufacturing aerospace materials or industrial engineering.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced team environment.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings technical documents and schematics.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Experience with CAD and able to spin a model and isolate various assemblies

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • College Cubesat or similar program experience
  • Internships or Coops in Aerospace
  • Experience with the build assembly or testing of complex systems

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 20 of the time
  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones

Pay Range:

  • Integration Engineer: $84000 $109000

Salary Range: California

$84000 $109000 USD

U.S. EXPORT CONTROL COMPLIANCE STATUS

The person hired will have access to information and items subject to U.S. export controls and therefore must either be a U.S. person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.62 or otherwise eligible for deemed export licensing. This status includes U.S. citizens U.S. nationals lawful permanent residents (green card holders) and asylees and refugees with such status granted not pending.
