Position Overview:
Teaches advises and mentors students evaluates student performance and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department college and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Teaching research department/school college and university service is expected. The position is a fulltime temporary nontenuretrack visiting assistant professor position.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
The primary responsibility of this position is teaching a variety of courses for the School of Criminal Justice. The successful candidate should be able to teach a broad range of courses from introductory undergraduate to graduate level with preferred qualifications in teaching policing legal and investigative courses. Service and scholarly activities are standard expectations for this position. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester. Faculty must be willing to teach in a variety of instructional formats (inperson hybrid online) as needed and appropriate. Faculty members are expected to participate in a comprehensive statewide outreach initiative to the Oklahoma criminal justice community.
College/Department Overview:
The School of Criminal Justice is housed within the College of Liberal Arts. The School of Criminal Justice has three undergraduate programs and two masters programs which serve approximately 500 students. The School of Criminal Justice has 9 fulltime faculty members. Experience Required:
An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institutions in Criminal Justice Criminology or Sociology is required. A doctorate in a related field will be considered (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval). ABD candidates with a clear dissertation defense date will be considered.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
The school has partnerships with local criminal justice agencies which provides faculty and students the opportunity to complete practical research on existing criminal justice problems. Therefore practical experience in the criminal justice system and the demonstrated ability to participate in academic research are desirable.
