Job Summary
The Student Research Assistant (RA) will perform entrylevel specific activities in support of multiple research projects and studies. The RA will perform general duties related to the maintenance of the project or grant requiring judgment initiative and independent decisionmaking. The RA will gather and organize data collected through assessment visit literature searches and other for use in the study publications or other research related uses. The RA may also be responsible for completion of other tasks and activities associated with the work of faculty/postdoctoral fellows. The Student Research Assistant (RA) has the opportunity to learn about and participate in the daytoday functions of a wide variety of research projects focused on improving health equity across the Mountain West. The Center for HOPE has a large portfolio of Implementation Science and mHealth Studies that explore changes in health behavior associated with various levels of intervention. The RA will perform general duties related to the maintenance of projects and grants requiring sound judgement initiative and independent decision making. The RA will work alongside Research Scientists Postdocs and Data/Programs Managers to complete Center goals. Responsibilities
Qualifications This position is patientsensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients coworkers and community by requiring all patientsensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations. Responsibilities Primary functions include assisting senior research staff with all study related procedures including but not limited to: screening participants for eligibility telephone interviews scheduling and rescheduling participants for study visits mailing and tracking study equipment calling participants for study related logistics and preparing study materials for study visits. The RA may be trained to consent and enroll participants as well as to conduct brief tobacco cessation counseling sessions during study visits. The RA will regularly enter participant data into study databases and perform basic data management tasks. The RA will have a great deal of phonebased contact with study participants including screening answering questions and scheduling appointments. The RA will also have constant contact with other study personnel. This may involve providing updates about the study answering study related questions providing feedback about study procedures. Collect and compile data from a variety of sources; may enter data into a PC or computer terminal. May assist with searching and reviewing literature in pertinent areas and preparing written reports as necessary photocopy organize and maintain journal articles. May assist in preparing presentations; provide support for staff at communitybased events. Work Environment and Level of Frequency that may be required Nearly Continuously: Office environment. At times exposure to human blood body fluids or tissues may occur. At peak periods the Research Assistant may be working under short timelines and stressful conditions. Occasional weekend/evening work may be required. Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required: Nearly Continuously: Sitting hearing listening talking. Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing) walking lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling study equipment and supplies and driving. Applicant must have demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills as they must be able to communicate with study participants other team members and study collaborators. Applicant must be proficient in Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint. They must also be willing to drive to community sites and participant home to complete study related procedures if needed.
