Job Description

Primary Function

WorWic Community College is accepting applications for a fulltime dean of science technology engineering and mathematics (STEM). This position reports directly to the Vice President for Academic Affairs leading and managing the STEM division of the college; providing divisional leadership supporting the mission vision and strategic goals of the college including the development implementation evaluation and management of assigned instructional programs services budget and division employees; providing leadership in curriculum academic assessment strategic planning and budgeting; and employing enrollment management and retention strategies that foster collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to communicate and coordinate initiatives supporting college and instructional goals.

Essential Duties

The following list is not intended as nor should it be construed as exhaustive of all responsibilities skills or working conditions associated with this position.

  • Manages and leads the STEM programs having overall responsibility for curriculum and course planning development and assessment of programs programmatic accreditation and supervision of assigned directors department heads and staff
  • Provides leadership encouragement and supervision to the STEM department heads to ensure the development and implementation of institutional and divisional initiatives and policies
  • Coordinates class scheduling curriculum and catalog revisions with the STEM departments; evaluates enrollment patterns cost/benefit information employment statistics and other data to identify class schedule opportunities and program development; and responds to student needs
  • Provides oversight of articulation agreements and internships to ensure appropriate educational and career pathways for programs within the division
  • Determines priorities for budgetary expenditures; develops plans and manages the budget to ensure the acquisition of necessary equipment and supplies for classroom laboratories and other instructional settings; and monitors budgets and electronically approves purchase requests
  • Prepares and administers the Perkins grant in cooperation with the health professions
  • Provides support to issues related to faculty staff and students and provides input support guidance and administration of other external grants
  • Participates on internal and external committees and organizes and/or chairs as requested/required
  • Provides student academic advising services and champions student success strategies to improve retention and program completion
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Masters degree
  • Six years of college teaching in a STEM field with a minimum of two years in a supervisory role in one of the STEM disciplines
  • Progressive academic administrative experience including proven success in program planning strategic planning faculty evaluation budget development assessment and change
  • Experience building collaborative community and workforce education partnerships
  • Strong purchase order grant administration budget management computer and application skills
  • Ability to think strategically and develop relevant and realistic plans programs and goals for the college
  • Ability to recognize collegewide priorities and work cooperatively and collaboratively to support their accomplishment
  • Financial management and negotiation skills
  • Ability to market programs and ideas to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to establish positive public relations and to work collaboratively with people to set and achieve common goals
  • Valid drivers license
  • Preference will be given to applicants with a doctorate degree and community college experience

Supplemental Information

This is a fulltime exempt position with excellent fringe benefits. Days and Hours of work are Mon. Fri. 8 a.m. 4:30 p.m. 1 hour lunch). The starting salary will likely range from $107500 to $131750 per year based on qualifications and experience.
