The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) Division of Alaska Air National Guard Facilities (ANG) is recruiting for an Engineering Assistant 2.

This position is in theGeneral Government (GGU)bargaining unit at a range 19.

This position is open toAlaska Residentsonly.

Special Note:This needs of this position necessitates onsite work in Anchorage Alaska full time to effectively collaborate with the uniformed members of Alaska Air National Guard Facilities to ensure optimal operations.

What You Will Be Doing:
As a new team member you will be overseeing construction project administration engineering and inspection for the Alaska Air National Guard at Joint Base ElmendorfRichardson (JBER). Your new role will encompass the application of engineering management principles in the planning and maintenance of infrastructure such as roadways and utilities. You will be responsible for researching project requirements and managing design contracts while also preparing necessary documentation for various agencies. Your technical skills will be essential in producing architectural civil mechanical and electrical drawings in AutoCAD along with generating updated maps to aid in ongoing projects and master planning for the 176th Civil Engineer Squadron.

*NOTE * SPECIAL NOTICE JBER (BASE) ACCESS * NOTE*

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access which is required with this positions work location on base. The background check may include fingerprinting. All job offers are conditional pending successful completion of the federal background check and issuance of a Defense Biometrics Identification System (DBIDS) card allowing base access. Also you must be able to maintain the clearance throughout your employment. If using a private vehicle this will require a valid Alaska Driver License proof of vehicle insurance and a valid State of Alaska vehicle registration.

State employees are guests on Joint Base ElmendorfRichardson; clearance and access is not within the States control. Due to updated Federal regulations you must have one of the following to obtain access to the Joint Base Elmendorf/Fort Richardson Military Instillation: A Real ID passport passport card or military issued ID.

Special Note:In addition in some cases employees must be able to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC). As part of the examination process a background check investigation including a criminal records check will be conducted. Conviction of a crime will not automatically preclude appointment. The circumstances involved in the conviction will be considered.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree or the equivalent with a major in engineering architecture or land surveying from an institution accredited by ABET.
AND
One year of entry level engineering architectural or land surveying experience as an Engineering Assistant 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.

Or:
A bachelors degree with a major in engineering architecture or land surveying from an institution not accredited by ABET.
AND
An EngineerInTraining (EIT) or Land SurveyorInTraining (LSIT) certificate issued by a state or the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors; or verification of passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) or Fundamentals of Surveying (FS) examination.
AND
One year of entry level engineering architectural or land surveying experience as an Engineering Assistant 1 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.

Or:
Five years of progressively responsible subprofessional engineering experience of which two years was as a Journey level Engineering Technician or Drafting Technician 3 with the State of Alaska or the equivalent elsewhere.

Substitution:
Graduate study in engineering and/or architecture may be substituted for the required experience as an Engineering Assistant 1. 2 semester/3 quarter hours equal one month of experience).

Special Note:
The employing department will identify EngineeringInTraining (EIT) positions.
Transcripts which indicate the credit hours earned for the specific coursework may be requested at the time of interview or prior.
