Job Description

We are looking for curious analytical and selfmotivated people to join the Legislative Audit Division as Management and Program Analysts. Analysts provide objective information to the legislature and the citizenry by conducting performance audits of state government programs.

Analysts examine diverse audit topics. Examples range from wildlife management programs to regulation of child care facilities to analysis of water rights administration. Audit assignments offer continuing variety and opportunities for professional growth and advancement.

The Legislative Audit Division is an independent nonpolitical nonpartisan organization in Montanas legislative branch. Directed by the Legislative Auditor the office is responsible for auditing executive and judicial branch operations.

Required Qualifications:

A bachelors degree in any discipline is required. Must be awarded by May 15 2025.

Preferred Qualifications:

Degree in business economics mathematics public administration political science or related field

Experience in quantitative and/or qualitative analysis

Experience with professional writing

A graduate degree

Experience in auditing or program evaluation

Starting Salary

We are recruiting for Associate and Senior Level Analysts. Starting level and salary is based on relevant and direct work experience.

Associate Level: 03 years of relevant experience; starting minimum $61726

*Senior Level: 25 years of DIRECT WORK EXPERIENCE as an analyst/auditor; starting minimum $67524

*For Senior Level consideration the applicant MUST have at least 2 years direct work experience as a program evaluator/analyst performance auditor or demonstrably equivalent position. Education or related but not direct work experience WILL NOT be substituted for the 2year minimum.

If hired the candidate MUST:

Live or relocate to within 90 miles of Helena Montana

Have a valid drivers license

Provide official college transcripts

Successfully pass a criminal records background check

Be legally authorized to work in the United States without an employer sponsorship

Be available for periodic travel and overtime
