Job Summary
The Occupational & Construction Safety Specialist II will support the Assistant Director in providing a wide range of occupational and construction related safety programs to the UTA campus community including support of the Universitys Storm Water Compliance Program.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Under minimal supervision of the Assistant Director support planning designing developing and administration/ implementation of occupational safety programs policies and procedures. Programs included Job Safety/Hazard Analysis Indoor Air Quality Investigations Hearing Conservation Lockout/Tagout Confined Space Entry Insurance Liability Claims Drivers Safety Program 15 Passenger Van Driving Forklift Safety Fall Protection Aerial Lifts and Forklifts Respiratory Protection Program Workers Compensation Claims Ergonomics AED /EvacuChair etc. Develop coordinate conduct and document EH&S training associated with these programs as directed. Support the Assistant Director in implementing and ensuring compliance with the Universitys USEPA / TPDES Storm Water Discharge Permit with the City of Arlington prepare storm water pollution prevention plans perform all associated inspections oversee best management practices such as silt fence and waddles to prevent storm water runoff coordinate storm water activities/meetings with all stakeholders collect data and prepare all required reports. Respond to incident/accidents. Conduct accident investigations analyze accident data and formulate and follow up on recommendations for proactive corrective actions and/or training to reduce the frequency and severity of accidents. Conduct inspections of construction sites laboratories and shop areas to identify safety hazards prevent accidents conserve University property and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Maintain appropriate accurate and complete documentation and/or records to ensure compliance with institutional policies and federal state and local regulations. Perform miscellaneous duties and assist other personnel in Environmental Health and Safety as assigned. Support University events as necessary including those outside of normal business hours.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in occupational safety a natural science environmental science industrial hygiene occupational safety engineering or a related field. Two 2 years of experience in occupational safety or related field. Must be able to drive a university vehicle. This job requires a Class C operators drivers license. The applicant selected must provide a current three 3 year driving record from the state in which the person currently resides. If not currently a Texas resident A Texas drivers license must be obtained with 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree in occupational safety a natural science environmental science industrial hygiene occupational safety engineering or a related field. Three 3 plus years of experience in a related field. Experience developing and implementing Occupational Safety Programs. Prior experience facilitating storm water programs. Experience developing and conducting safetyrelated training. Experience working in a higher education or research setting.
Work Schedule
MondayFriday; 8:00am5:00pm. Must be able to respond to afterhours emergencies including holidays and weekends. This position participates in afterhours rotating oncall program. Must be able to respond to campus within 30 minutes during oncall duty. Occasional travel required.
