About The Role:
As the Bilingual Legal Counsel you will provide expert legal support across commercial transactions real estate leasing and franchise operations. You will focus on drafting negotiating and executing businesscritical contracts while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. This role requires strong contract negotiation skills experience in privacy law and the ability to assess and mitigate operational legal risks.
What Youll Be Doing:
Draft and execute contracts including leases and franchise agreements to ensure successful business outcomes.
Manage legal strategies to align with the companys business objectives ensuring proactive risk identification and mitigation.
Plan and coordinate initiatives to assess and address legal risks safeguarding the companys interests.
Schedule and oversee contract negotiations including vendor lease and franchise agreements to support optimized business operations.
Delegate tasks to ensure compliance with corporate law real estate commercial transactions and intellectual property regulations.
Monitor litigation matters coordinating with external counsel to manage risks and control costs.
Direct the development of policies and practices related to corporate governance and shareholder matters.
Ensure legal support for real estate transactions including leasing acquisitions dispositions and property management.
Maintain effective collaboration with internal teams and stakeholders to address ongoing legal needs and ensure operational efficiency.
What You Bring:
Education & Accreditation:
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. or Juris Doctor (J.D. from an accredited Canadian law school.
Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario or Quebec.
Full bilingual proficiency (English & French) with the ability to practice law in both languages.
Experience:
58 years of legal experience preferably in retail franchise or commercial real estate.
Proven experience in contract negotiation lease agreements and commercial transactions.
Strong knowledge of privacy law and data protection regulations.
Experience supporting litigation matters and working with external counsel.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong organizational and planning skills to manage legal initiatives and ensure compliance.
Excellent negotiation skills to drive favorable contract outcomes.
Analytical and problemsolving abilities to assess legal risks and implement mitigation strategies.
Ability to delegate and manage workload effectively in a fastpaced environment.
