Job Description

Benefits:

Position Duties:
Under the direction of the Recreation Coordinator and/or Recreation Leader Head Guard or Lead Lifeguard on duty; the swim assistant is responsible for assisting with swim lessons to meet the demands of the general public.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are examples of primary duties assigned to this position. Other related duties may be assigned.
  • Assists swim lesson instructor during swim lessons with class organization lesson planning and safety of participants.
  • Ensures equipment and materials for swim lessons are ready and available at the start of each class.
  • Maintains eyes on swim lesson participants at all times during classes.
  • Understands and enforces rules and regulations.
  • Ensures safe and orderly conduct and a safe environment for all patrons using aquatics facilities.
  • Assists patrons with basic first aid as necessary and assists lifeguards as needed with patrons who are in distress and/or need lifesaving measures.
  • Maintains a professional demeanor at all times and makes an effort to establish a positive rapport with participants spectators and other fellow staff.
  • Works as a team with other aquatics staff to carry out program goals.
  • Attends required training.
  • Communicates with the Leads if there are any questions problems or issues that arise.
Position Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 14 years of age.
  • Must be comfortable in water and be able to swim the length of the pool.
  • Training will be provided to those without experience.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand and/or walk sit talk hear read and write. May periodically need to reach stoop crouch or kneel. Employee may be asked to lift/carry and/or move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.

Compensation: $15.00 per hour
