FACULTY OF NURSING

ASSISTANT TEACHING PROFESSOR GLOBAL HEALTH

The Faculty of Nursing at the University of New Brunswick invites applications from qualified individuals for a Tenure Track Assistant Teaching Professor position (formerly titled Instructor). This will be a fulltime appointment. The position involves a combination of remote and inperson classroom clinical and laboratory teaching responsibilities in the undergraduate and graduate programs. Expertise in global health care systems inclusive of tertiary care acute and chronic disease management is required for this position. Service within the university and the global community is an expectation of the role. We are interested in individuals who have experience in using quantitative research methods. Experience teaching in an academic setting inclusive of both classroom and clinical courses is an asset along with experience in quantitative research methods. Scholarly work contributing to the scholarship of global health and access to nursing education globally is an expectation of this role.

Founded in 1785 UNB is one of the oldest public universities in North America which stands on the unsurrendered and unceded traditional Wolastoqey land. The Faculty of Nursing has a satellite campus in Moncton a remote program delivery in the Miramichi a living laboratory at the Fredericton Downtown Community Health Centre and a collaborative partnership for delivery of the BN Program with Humber College in Toronto.

All UNB sites share a common curriculum based on principles of primary health care caring and social justice. Foundational to the curriculum are five abilities that are considered essential to working successfully in our healthcare environment. Outcomes for theory and clinical courses are intentionally designed and leveled across the program to ensure that graduates have developed the five requisite abilities. The Bachelor of Nursing degree has a 4year undergraduate program and a 2year accelerated program. The integrated nature of our curriculum means that we can consider a variety of areas of clinical and teaching expertise for this position. The Master of Nursing Program has two streams: a thesis/researchbased stream and a Nurse Practitioner stream. Research and active participation in governance and decisionmaking within the Faculty are also expectations.

Qualifications: Applicants must have a Masters degree in Nursing or a related field. A PhD in nursing or related health discipline is an asset. A demonstrated ability to teach effectively is also expected. Five years of a fulltime clinical practice preferably with global nursing experience. Applicants must be eligible to obtain registration with the Nurses Association of New Brunswick (NANB) and be registered prior to appointment. International applications must include evidence of completion of stages 1 and 2 of the NANB registration processes.

This position will begin July 1 2023 dependent on the availability of a successful applicant and subject to final budgetary approval.
