Job Description

Senior Global R&D Scientist Residue Chemistry

Position Overview:

  • FMC Corporations Global Regulatory Sciences group is part of the R&D organization. As a residue chemist your role will be focused on developing research for new and existing molecules to help farmers maintain a safe and secure food supply while protecting the environment for future generations.
  • The position is officebased and located in Newark Delaware at our Global R&D Center and just one hour south of our Corporate headquarters in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. While the position is based in the USA responsibilities include regulatory work that supports our global business with opportunities to interface with people around the world. This position is a hybrid position that requires 3 days per week in the office at the Stine Research Center.
  • The Global Regulatory Sciences group offers a unique balance of individual responsibilities and a teamfocused project approach providing our scientists with opportunities to engage in proprietary molecule development learn regulations around the world and invest in their professional development.

Responsibilities:

  • As a residue chemist on our team you will be the residue technical expert on crossfunctional teams.
  • You will be relied upon to determine the identity and concentration of agricultural active ingredients and degradation products in various matrices (plant animal soil pollen) through the design and interpretation of field and livestock studies at Contract Research Organizations.
  • Our team will rely on you to plan and oversee research review and summarize analytical methodology and residue data and prepare written reports to meet regulatory requirements and product safety concerns.
  • You will be asked to work on interdisciplinary teams represent our products across global regulatory agencies and provide technical guidance and regulatory strategy in your discipline to support our innovations around the world.

Qualifications and Education:

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry Organic Chemistry Environmental Sciences Agricultural Sciences or related discipline and a minimum of 3 years relevant work experience.M.S. in Analytical Chemistry Organic Chemistry Environmental Sciences Agricultural Sciences or related discipline and a minimum of 7 years relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of chromatographic and quantitative analytical methods combined with ability to interpret MS spectra in order to identify and quantify organic molecules.
  • Knowledge of global regulations and GLP requirements for environmental fate crop or food residue studies (inlife and analytical phases) for the registration of agricultural chemicals.

Additional Relevant Experience:

  • Effectively manage numerous tasks/projects simultaneously to meet internal/external deadlines while maintaining organizational integration within a global scientific support team.
  • Ability to design and manage appropriate field and analytical studies under FIFRA and OECD guidelines.
  • Understanding of Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs) how they are calculated and their impact on global trade.
