Primary Responsibility
The First Ascent Program Facilitator is a seasonal temporary position needed onetwo weeks a year will be responsible for planning implementing and participating in the oneweek program for the annual CMC First Ascent Youth Leadership Program. Working under the supervision of the program Manager the Facilitator will assist in planning the annual program. During the program the Facilitator will be responsible for maintaining schedules and overseeing individual counselors in their activitiesacting in all capacities as the Manager but under the actual Managers supervision.
During the program the facilitator will work closely with camp counselor to ensure learning is taking place for camp participants. The facilitator will assist counselors with group management conflict resolution and will intervene if there is disruptive behavior. The facilitator will participate in group activities and keep the program manager aware of any issues.
*This is a parttime seasonal position. As per the Affordable Care Act (ACA) guidelines the role is not eligible for benefits typically provided to fulltime employees. Employment duration and hours worked may vary based on seasonal business needs. The individual hired for this position will not hold any other role at CMC during the year and will only be employed in this seasonal role to meet ACA seasonal employment requirements.
Prerequisites for Position (Qualifications Standards)
Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position required such as a High School Diploma/GED and one year related of work experience (this 1 year experience is total hours worked of 2080 equals 1 year of full time work) with at least a min of 1 week of summer camp must be a college student who has completed their freshman year or a sophomore junior senior or graduated or a measurable related experience that will provide the necessary knowledge skill and abilities to perform the functions of the position.
Prior graduation from a youth leadership program required graduation from the CMC First Ascent Youth Leadership Program preferred.
6 months of experience in program leadership with supervisory experience required.
Special skills or Abilities: Knowledge of turning experiences into learning recognize effective v. ineffective methods/vehicles provide feedback. Work directly with counselors and campers to ensure there is an enjoyable experience for all. Ability to perform vigorous physical activity in all weather conditions at high altitude. Ability to operate for several days with limited rest during the program.

The hiring pay rate is $20.58 per hour. Benefits include retirement contribution annual and sick time mental health resources and tuition benefit. CMC utilizes a wage progression compensation model that accounts for a candidates skill and experience. Although a hiring rate is listed this will be set commensurate with the successful candidates qualifications and in compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act.

Essential Duties
1. Supports and assistants all aspects of the First Ascent program participate as able and appropriate in the planning of the years programs.
2. Coordinates and conducts experiential learning facilitation effectively in a variety of situations.
3. Coordinate staff activities/programs identity and assign tasks and responsibility.
4. Ensure the safety of staff and students during camp.
5. Coordinate and monitor duty coverage; provide supervision guidance advice and training to student as needed.
6. Provides basic intervention counseling and oversees code of conduct intervene if campers behaviors become a distraction to others.
7. Participate in vigorous physical activities.
8. Coordinate with the leadership coordinator as needed.
9. Drive large vehicles on mountain roads.
10. Other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received
This position reports to the Admissions Representative.
Supervisory Responsibility
Under the guidance of the Admissions Representative the Facilitator will assist in the supervision of 35 Student Assistants and 4 Camp Counselors. This position is responsible for serving as a lead worker for others in the department.
Special Conditions of Employment
Successful completion of a background check including a motor vehicles records report required. Incumbents in this position will adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned. This position will require driving and a valid Colorado drivers license; and may require altered work schedules including occasional evenings and weekends.
Working Conditions
This position requires constant sitting occasional walking standing and driving; occasional handling objects pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms and use of finger movements; occasional lifting carrying pushing or pulling objects up to 50 lbs. Constant written and oralcommunication and the ability to reason and analyze and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
